I want my natural hair back :(

After years of dying, blow drying and straightening my hair it is now a big, dry, frizz bomb! It's about 3 different colours and I just can't do anything with it apart from shove it up out the way :(

I used to have lovely curly ginger hair and I want it back :(

How do I do this without paying a fortune at the hairdressers? Any advice greatly appreciated. TIA

Can you cut it short and grow out all the frizz and dye?

Karbea · 08/09/2013 19:25

Is it just the colour that's an issue or the condition too?

MamaTo3Boys · 08/09/2013 19:27

It's the colour and the condition karbea. I stupidly died it a very dark brown a few years ago and ever since have been trying to dye it back to my original colour with no success. My roots, lengths and ends are all different colours. It's shocking! :(

I can't help with colour as I've bit the bullet and booked to have mine re dyed to the original colour next week.
But by using a combination of philip kingsley elasterziser, Ojon rare blend, Philip Kingsley moisture surge shampoo, Ojon rare blend detangler, heat defence spray, bumble and bumble oil and oribe royal blow dry. I now have really nice condition hair, took about 6 weeks, mine is overly highlighted (bleach).

Get the colour stripped out?

I have a mass of curly hair and have found Phil Smith Argan Oil Cream is fab on it.Recently changed shampoo and conditioner to aussie colour whatever (I dye my dark hair ginger) and have started 'plopping' my hair and,for the past two weeks my hair has looked the best it has in years and without so many products as I used to use to tame it.

I used ColourB4 to strip all the dye out of mine about 6 months ago. I'd used too many dark/red perm dyes so the ends were much darker than everywhere else.

It worked brilliantly, but I hadn't realised how much ammonia perm dye contains so my hair was several shades lighter than my natural colour (gingery orange in some places). I also hadn't realised just how grey i am in some places.

I use a semi perm now, and although I have to donor more often, all my hair is the same shade.

Colourb4? I've done it on my dyed black for 12 years hair. It brought back my natural hair colour. It stinks though Grin

I thought of colourB4 but wouldn't it dry my hair out even more?

Colour B4 does work, I've used it a few times in the past - my natural colour is auburn & I dye mine a dark chocolatey brown. Colour B4 is kinder to your hair than using bleach, but it does dry your hair out, even if you don't notice it straight away. If you really want your natural colour back, you could use CB4, condition your hair like crazy, & have a good trim!

Can't comment on colour but to get your hair back to a good condition you should massage coconut oil into it in the evening 2-3 times a week, sleep in it and then wash it out in the morning.
