Bra help please?

Hi lovely bra ladies of the S&B thread Smile
I have de-lurked purely to ask for your help... I read some of the previous threads and thought I was ready to start shopping for a new bra in a proper size, but I just read another post that asked about whether boobs are close/far set and wide or narrow. Now a whole new world of confusion has opened up!
I used the 'dangling' method I've read about and I'm pretty sure my current 36E is no good (34 underneath and 45 round the dangle). I was going to order a 34 G and GG to see how they looked. Does that sound sensible?
I'm also pregnant for the first time but after a bit of a spurt the boobs seem to have settled down, so I wanted to order a couple of good basic bras to see me through til I grow again.
Last time I was 'properly' measured was by M&S at the age of 16....I'm errr a bit older than that now Blush

Hello! Yep, I'd try a 34GG and sizes around that.

Would you say your breasts are fuller on the top or the bottom? Wide set (eg not much cleavage, start out under your arms)? It all helps us suggest some styles that may work for you.

Hi Sorrel, thanks for your help Smile
I think I am bottom-heavy, they are quite close together (not much room for a thicker central gore to lie in but they slope outwards IYSWIM) but they start quite near the arm...
I can't believe my first two posts on mumsnet are such detail on my boobs! And I can't even blame the Wine right now!

Ok, have a look at balconette styles to avoid gap

SorrelForbes · 08/09/2013 12:44

Ok, have a look at balconette styles to avoid gaping. Other posters on the bra threads with not much gap between their boobs seem to get on with the Cleo unpadded bras and the Ewa Michalak range. The Tutti Rouge range might be worth a look too. It is trial and error really. What styles do you like?

SorrelForbes · 08/09/2013 12:45

The Cleo Lucy is good for bottom heavy breast too.

houseworkcanwait · 08/09/2013 13:09

Thanks again Sorrel, I will have a look at these ones now. I generally just wear quite plain t-shirt styles but only as they seemed to give best fit. I am also nervous about trying non-padded because I'm paranoid about smuggling peanuts - I work in a v cold office!

I'm going to be adventurous though and try a few of the ones you recommend (fingers crossed I find somewhere online with a good returns policy). Thanks again - I will report back ASAP!

Just ordered Cleo Lucy in 2 sizes and a Freya one too for comparison... fingers crossed!

Too late for this order, but if you want something with a bit of padding, the Cleo Juna works well for most shapes.

houseworkcanwait · 08/09/2013 20:15

Oh I saw that one... Once the Lucys that don't fit have been returned, might just have to treat myself to a Juna too (today is turning into a regular spree!)

Hi Sorrel, just wanted to say another mega thanks Thanks

My Lucies arrived, the band was perfect and the cup too big on the 34GG and the band just cutting in a bit but perfect cup on the 34G so I'm going to try a 36G and FF.

I'm feeling a lot more confident to experiment now anyway Smile

You're welcome.

Personally, I think if the band was OK on the 34GG, I'd be tempted to go with the 34G and use an extender until the band stretches a little. I think the 36 will be too big.

houseworkcanwait · 17/09/2013 14:09

I thought that might be the case as it wasn't cutting in by 2 full inches - just ordered some extenders instead!
