Any 30 somethings out there with oily skin?

Hi

I feel I need a new skin care regime, I'm 34 and have really oily skin (yeah, I know I'll be thankful when I'm older!) but it really does get me down how oily my skin becomes about an hour after I've cleaned it, and the spots....well, I look worse now than I did when I was 15!

I used to use L'Oreal Pure Zone but they appear to have discontinued this; and now just use a combination of whatever is on offer in the shops.

My skin is exceptionally worse at the moment as I'm 7 weeks pregnant and I've had a constant cluster of spots on my chin for the past 3 weeks Sad

So what do you use for your oily skin, I need some inspiration Smile

I think using facial oils, although counter intuitive, are good for oily skin. That is what I would tell my teenage self!

Google Lisa Eldridge. She's a professional makeup artist who has oily skin, theres lots of videos and good advice on her website.

Same age and same problem! I have switched to Avene cleanance and it is brilliant! The ckeansing gel and emulsion (moisturiser) seem to keep the oiliness at bay.

I'm using Avene cleanance too. It's the best thing I've used by far for ages - especially the face wash, but I had a breakout recently that has got me down. No product is going to help it though. It's obviously hormonal and my GP won't allow me to take the pill that will help it because I once had what I thought was possibly a migraine aura.

Brilliant, thanks for all the tips off to google Lisa Eldridge & Avene now.

I thought I had oily skin until I realised that I was using stripping products that were drying out my skin and making it over produce oil. Since following Caroline Hirons blog at Beauty Mouth my skin is loads better.

Stay away from harsh products that target oily skin!Try cleansing with coconut oil.

If Avene doesn't work for you, then La Roche-Posay has a similar range of products.

I had a problem with hormones some time ago, and that caused my skin to go very spotty (hormonal acne, I'd think) and terribly oily.

I've used both Avene and LRP, and they didn't really do much for me.
I tried going for products that wouldn't be too hard on my skin.
Nothing worked.

I'm currently using the Clinique Anti-Blemish 3-step system, as that's the only range that's been able to sort out my skin. The other 3-step systems are way too harsh on my skin.

Before my skin got spotty and problematic, I used a day cream from Gatineau for dehydrated skin which was amazing.
Kept my skin looking great most of the day, didn't give me spots and hydrated the skin enough.
Thankfully, my skin is getting much better, and I'm slowly moving back to products that are good for dehydrated skin.

I'm 40-something with oily skin, so I've lived long enough to have tried, oh, pretty much LOTS of stuff .
There is v little that will stave off the oil production. Currently I'm using Avène Cleanance and it's fine.

But, if it's any comfort, after about week 10 in pregnancy I had wonderful normal skin and hair. V little oil, no spots. It was fabulous. Wonderful. So you may have all this to look forward to!
