Skirts for chunky of thigh, with a bit of a tummy?

Trying to overhaul my work wardrobe with a view to looking for a new job.

Normally I wear trousers, but I'd quite like to get a skirt I could wear with a suit jacket and knee high boots; but everything I try on seems to highlight my thighs or my tummy.

I'm a size 14 more or less (depends on cut), 5ft 2" and have no idea what I can try!

I want to look professional so skater style skirts I guess are out. Any thoughts?

I asked something similar below and haven't got any replies yet. I'm marking my place here and watching intently.

Maybe we should set up a support group? Grin

So fed up searching and then having to hand them all back to the assistant!

Decide that no-one really cares about the state or size of your stomach and thighs apart from you, find a skirt you like, buy it and wear it with confidence?

Two words though... Camel hoof!

(Yep, my thighs and tummy are that bad! Sad )

I have both of these issues. I have to admit, I wear dresses a lot more than I wear skirts as I find they are generally more flattering. I work in a professional environment too but I have no qualms about wearing fuller skirts - I think as long as you dress them smartly (nice top/shirt tucked in) then it looks absolutely fine.

Dresses are generally easier though as the waistline is often higher so you can get something nicely fitted at the top that then just skims past the waist, or with some gathering/draping.

Yeah; dresses are problematic for me too Blush

I have large norks so end up needing an 18/20 for the breast area which then makes me look like the side of a house Confused

Bollocks to it, think I'll just find a kaftan! Wink

A line skirt that falls just below knee and side zip.

Something like this.

The pattern at the bottom of the skirt will take the focus off your tum.

Have you tried Evans? (that is NOT a bitchy comment) I am sure they do size 14s and they tend to cut things a little more generously so you might find they drape rather than cling.

A line and just below the knee.
