Bit of a silly topic but...

What should I do about my bloomin' hair?! I have very long highlighted hair that is very blonde but not quite white blonde. I used to be naturally very fair but as I've got older my natural hair colour has darkened to the extent that my roots look black.

My trouble now is that my hair grows incredibly fast and I have a new baby. So I can't afford to get my roots done as often as I need to, and also it takes about 4 hours to do and my baby needs feeding every 2 hours.

So instead of going to the hairdressers, would it look awful if I got a box colouring and did my roots at home? I could either get peroxide and do the roots white blonde and put it on the rest of my hair for a bit so at least it will be all the same colour, but I know bleach is really bad for your hair.

Or, do I buy a box colour that's blonde but not white blonde and try to blend the colour to the rest of my hair as best I can? This means my roots won't be the exact same colour but would be better than black. BUT then I lock myself into having to do it all the time as if I then went back to highlights it would be too patchy.

Oh god, it's going to look awful isn't it?

I use a high light cap at home. easy peasy. when ive got time on my hands (!) I do some low lights too to balance out the colour and make roots less noticeable.

Please don't do what you described in your OP - I did exactly that, for the same reasons, and I ruined my hair for the next 2 years til it grew out.

Your baby won't need feeding every 2 hours forever - wait a month and things will be different. Or just take baby along - DS was a grouchy baby but was quite happy in the salon in the end, the hair dryers and people coming and going was all quite entertaining. The gowns are perfect for bf-ing!

Ok, I won't do it! A highlighting cap though... Where do you get one of those and is it easy? My hair is really thick and tangly, I probably wouldn't be able to pull sections through the holes without getting myself into a state.

you can buy highlight kits in a box usually next to the bleach
