And please don't say snip them off. I just couldn't

My armpits are FULL of them. I hate them. There must be a less gruesome solution

I believe the gp can tie a very tight thread rou d them. And they fall off of their own accord. I have often wondered about asking myself

Iwaswatchingthat · 04/09/2013 16:56

Your GP surgery will do it. I had all mine removed in a ten minute appointment. You just need to tell them that you want that doing in advance - so make one appt one week then another for the removal.

There was no anesthetic - I was told this would be too stingy and more painful than just doing it. The GP pulled each one up with some tweezers then used a hot wire to remove. The heat then seals the cut. There was some bleeding on the bigger ones, but nothing that a small plaster could not stop.

It was no more painful than a top lip wax and honestly the best thing I have ever done! Wish I had done it years ago. It will need doing again though cos they grown back.

sonlypuppyfat · 04/09/2013 16:57

You could get someone to tie them for you. They are caused by friction . And someone told me to rub them with the damp end of a match the red type

Iwaswatchingthat · 04/09/2013 16:57

They grow back I mean!!!

SilkStalkings · 04/09/2013 17:01

I've snipped a few littlies in less awkward places with nail clippers! Not very hygienic but it annoys me how expensive it is these days to get them done. Don't think GPs do them anymore do they?

bonzo77 · 04/09/2013 17:02

Have a couple of drinks. Rub some bonjella on. Snip off with nail clippers. I had some appear while pregnant. They were still there after baby was 6 months.... All gone now!

roundtoit · 04/09/2013 17:03

tie a strand of hair around each one. They soon drop off

Iwaswatchingthat · 04/09/2013 17:10

GPs definitely still do them. I had mine done about two years ago and my dad had them done last week. All thanks to the lovely NHS. It does not take any longer than an ordinary appointment.

sergeantmajor · 04/09/2013 19:35

My local beauty clinic got rid of mine using 'advanced electrolysis', a gold needle burning them off at the base. In 15 mins, they got rid of loads, including burning off some visible cherry spots around the decolletage, total £50.
But I have resorted to nail clippers on sticky-outy ones - not painful and rather good fun.

poocatcherchampion · 04/09/2013 19:39

I've got one on my neck. Will it be gross to try to diy option? I don't want to draw more attention to it

Humuhumunukunukuapuaa · 04/09/2013 19:57

I just can't snip / tie. I just can't.

I don't think my gp would be up for helping. I've never yet managed to get past the receptionist to see an actual dr. They're strictly only for the very seriously ill here

I didn't know a beauty therapist would do them, so thanks for that. I'll do some ringing around and see if such advanced have reached the back of beyond where I live

Thanks for all the suggestions

i had it done at GP using dry ice ( forget the technical term, sure someone here will know what it is. They use it for freezing veruccas and warts .) Stings a little but over quickly.

buttercrumble · 05/09/2013 23:54

Cryotherapy at your Gp for tiny ones , or they can do minor surgery . Both quick and simple in a 10 min appt at the doctors

Lizzabadger · 06/09/2013 06:02

Gosh you are all lucky that you can get appointments at your GPs for that sort of thing. Round here you have to be dying and even then you have to wait two weeks.

PrincessFlirtyPants · 06/09/2013 06:29

AuntySib do you mean liquid nitrogen?

BeCool · 06/09/2013 10:03

I got rid of an underarm once this summer using the thread mrthod. It actually doesn't hurt very much and only for a short while. I did it myself but if you have someone to help you all the better. Just make sure you tie the thread close to your skin.

They will be gone in a few days and it really is fairly painless.
