Quick question re. Aldi Lacura

I need to buy a new day cream so I am considering purchasing the Lacura Q10 Anti-wrinkle Day Cream. However, I already have the Q10 Anti-wrinkle Night Cream and I really do not like its smell.

Is the smell of the day cream less offensive, or is it similar to the night cream's?

I have the day cream but haven't smelt the night cream so can't comment. It doesn't appear to me to have an overly offensive smell though. It's a great cream though. Everyone has commented on my skin recently.

Rattitude · 01/09/2013 16:53

Thanks, Tired. Has it got a strong-ish smell though or is the smell fairly faint?

I've got the night cream but don't like the texture at all, it really drags a lot, not slippy enough. I was given some L'oreal Age perfect, that smells gorgeous, like posh suncream.

Rattitude · 01/09/2013 18:02

mmm... I normally buy face cream from purenuffstuff; however, I am an Aldi fan and their beauty products have had lots of positive reviews and are cheap (£1.99 for the day cream).

I suppose I could take a punt and try out the Aldi one anyway. Alternatively, I was also tempted by products from La Roche-Posay...

I am sure that L'Oreal stuff is good too but I am probably going to purchase one of the three mentioned above.

I've just bought the day cream and don't like the smell at all. I'm going to make myself use it up quickly and move on.

Rattitude · 03/09/2013 23:01

Thanks, Word. I suspect it has the same smell as the night cream then. I should probably not get it if that is the case. I am another one who will use things to their bitter end when I don't like them, even if they only cost £1.99 Blush.

I use all their products and haven't really noticed a smell with the day cream. I have the one with the white pot/top and it's fine. I also use their Wrinkle stop and Eye filler too. I have also had positive comments on my skin, and I'm sure my one wrinkle above my eyebrow is not as deep as it used to be.

I bought the day cream and hated the smell, I'm afraid. It didn't get any further than the back of my hand because it was so strong! There weren't any testers so it was a gamble. Good job it wasn't expensive!

notjustamummythankyou · 04/09/2013 08:49

Just a thought: I wonder if they've reformulated it if world can't detect a smell? My experience was a good couple of years ago and the smell was overpowering - you couldn't miss it. And it did go off the shelves for a while, didn't it? I've changed my mind - give it a bash!

Tiredemma · 04/09/2013 08:55

I really advent noticed any significant smell that you wouldn't 'normally' smell from any type of cream.

wordassociationfootball · 04/09/2013 11:22

Doh!!! Sorry! I HAVE THE NIGHT CREAM, NOT THE DAY CREAM.

SilkStalkings · 04/09/2013 17:04

I have the face serum and the much-vaunted caffeine eyeroll and neither do anything special IME.

Rattitude · 04/09/2013 17:54

The plot has thickened! Maybe only the night cream has the strong smell.

I still have enough of my current day cream to last me a month or so. If nobody else comes on the thread who can compare and contrast the night and day creams, I may actually invest in the day cream.

If I do, I will report back. Thanks to all for your input!

Please do! I'd be interested in hearing whether the day cream still smells like cheap peach air freshener Grin

OnTheBottomWithAWomansWeekly · 04/09/2013 18:10

I have both - the day cream that I have, has a pump (and has a very faint shimmery effect?)

I find the night cream lovely (smell and effect) but the day cream has a very sweet smell and I'm not so keen on it.

It is a different smell to the night cream so you might like it.

Rattitude · 04/09/2013 19:12

I think the cream with a pump is a different one, OnTheBottom.

Ha well... I may push the boat out and get hold of the day cream before the end of this week as I can tell it is not just troubling me. Wink

Right.... I have been to Aldi and bought the Renew Anti-wrinkle day cream Q10 (white lid) with an SPF of 6.

It has a smell but it is not as offensive as the night cream and I think it is also fainter. I have not tested it on my face yet but I think I will be ok with it. The texture is also smoother than the night cream's, so more pleasant to apply.

So, all in all, it is probably not a bad investment.

I have that cream, I like it. Little goes a long way even on my dry skin.

LalaDipsey · 05/09/2013 21:29

I have the day cream in a tube - SPF 15. Over the past 5 years I have gone from Clinique to No7 to Avon and now Aldi as circumstances have changed. I prefer the Aldi cream to all but Clinique and actually on pure vfm I would go for Aldi any time. Well worth it and my skin is fab and hasn't had an allergic reaction, which it is prone to do.

LalaDipsey · 05/09/2013 22:00

Ps I find the smell fine - and I am someone who can't wear perfume as strong smells give me a headache Smile

Rattitude · 05/09/2013 22:51

Lala, I did not see the tube option. Not sure how their various day creams differ from each other to be honest.
