So tomorrow is our tenth wedding anniversary. We went to Paris earlier in the year with the DC to celebrate and so I've just bought my DH a card.

Seems he on the other hand (I asked him) has bought me a gift and knowing him as I do, it's likely to be a good one Blush

I have tomorrow to go into town but as we've been together for 18 years I've run out of ideas.

What great gifts have you bought over the years? Don't really want to buy clothes and he has cuff links galore. I've bought him art work over the last few years and walls are now taken up.

Can anyone give me any inspiration?
(I have access to house of Fraser/John Lewis etc)

What is your budget? What are his hobbies / interests?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/08/2013 20:05

Ten foodie things? His favourite chocolates and his drink of choice plus his favourite cheese and nice crackers to go with it, plus a pot of nice chutney, plus some good tea or coffee etc until you reach ten?!

MrsHoarder · 28/08/2013 20:05

Whiskey and glasses?

Tweet2tweet · 28/08/2013 20:06

I bought my DH a raison d'etre of one of his favourite artists once. If he has a lot of art perhaps that could be an option?

Also, what about an iTunes voucher but add a few songs on to it that are meaningful to you both in advance?

I'm not sure what your budget is by my DH was delighted with a pair of Church's brogues bought on a trip to London.

I've also just bought m DH some Raybans as a Christmas gift (I buy early to avoid Christams rush). Lewis' have some available.

IComeFromALandDownUnder · 28/08/2013 20:08

A watch, camera, iPad, kindle, tickets to a sporting event/concert?

timidviper · 28/08/2013 20:08

What about a voucher to learn something or do something together. A friend of mine bought her husband a cookery course at Raymond Blanc's cookery school which included morning and afternoon tea and lunch. She went too and they had a lovely day together which she said was expensive but worth it. If that is too much or too far away maybe somewhere nearer to you does similar?

mrspaddy · 28/08/2013 20:10

Are there any concerts on you know he would love? Does it have to be style related?

I bought my husband casual clothes lately as he ad plenty of smarter clothes. A nice winter jumper either would be a good bet.
Mine has one like this ta he gets grea wear out of

I've just spent ages going through photos and have put one of us from each year of marriage in a multi apertureframe from jl (in bronze effect as it's our eighth) - something sentimental could get round size/cost differential?

theresmoretolife · 28/08/2013 20:15

Something made of tin for a 'traditional' 10th wedding anniversary gift? Or something in a tin? I know that's probably not too helpful sorry!

mrspaddy · 28/08/2013 20:15

Sorry you said no clothes.. I misread.

Just googled there... Tin... Website recommends sunglasses, digital camera, bike.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 28/08/2013 20:17

Why, some new underwear for yourself, he will regard that as a good present when you appear in it with a bottle of champagne and a come hither look....:)

Hopasholic · 28/08/2013 20:23

Some great ideas you're ALL wonderful! Budget £150. Let me just read through them all again...

What about some leather goods (no not that kind) - a wallet, nice leather satchel/messenger bag/briefcase etc, depending on your budget/his style!

Hopasholic · 28/08/2013 20:31

I love your idea chimney although might not have the time to pull it off.

He has all those things, bought by me over the years, Icomefrom that's why he's soooo difficult!

If I can't think of anything specific, I think buying 10 things and putting them in a tin bucket, like a hamper might be a good idea, ( although he did a basket for me for Xmas but hopefully he'll not draw comparison)

Thanks again

Armadale · 28/08/2013 20:34

Ten years is tin, so I bought DH ten 'tins'-

One which had his 'proper' present, wrapped and hidden inside, and 9 other little tin presents

e.g. tin of extra strong mints in retro case, tin of posh shaving soap bar from selfridges, tin tea caddy of his favourite tea from fortnum and mason, fray bentos pie tin (in joke between us) etc

He really liked it

(I put his proper present tin at the bottom of the pile so he opened it last)

outs self so totally will now have to namechange again

DontmindifIdo · 28/08/2013 20:42

What about a wallet? it's the one thing he's going to use every day...

Or a 'good' pen...

tomatoplantproject · 28/08/2013 20:46

If he is a big foodie then a class - dh would lie either a butchery or bread making class but I don't have the funds just yet and I think they're about £150. If you're in London then go to The Ginger Pig in Marylebone.

Hopasholic · 28/08/2013 20:50

Honestly Armadale he'd be chuffed to bits with a fray bentos steak & kidney pud!

inthewrong I've got my wedding dress out and actually managed to get in it unbelievably, even found the 'something blue' garter Wink

Hobbies wise it's football, supporter of local team but I'd have to include DC re corporate days etc and it's just too expensive.

BeaLola · 28/08/2013 21:00

I like the ten items in each tin from Armadale and thinking about JL you could get aftershave in tin, champagne, underwear, socks, loose tea, truffles

Thinking of anything else you could get .... Balloon flight, what about one lovely photo of all of you from Paris ina beautiful frame

Daft idea - Tintin book or film !

Hopasholic · 28/08/2013 21:31

He'd definitely not get in a hot air balloon but you're right, JL will have plenty of nice goodies.

must not look at clothes while I'm there

Smythson do beautiful leather passport covers that you can get initialled. Got DH this when we got married and he loves it. Theyve got a gorgeous dark blue (not quite navy) at the moment for £115 (lettering extra buy would add about £15-£20 iirc) You can order online - wont be with you tomorrow but you could print off the photo of it?

Hopasholic · 28/08/2013 22:05

Thanks evertonmint, might bank that idea for Xmas as I really do want to give him something tomorrow, but thanks anyway Smile

I am going to need these suggestions in a couple of weeks, thanks all. Thanks

Love the ten tin idea in particular....

Armadale · 28/08/2013 22:38

Tintin book or film inspired, wish I'd have thought of it, BeaLola.
Hope you have a lovely day tomorrow Hopasholic.
