Is this cardigan stylish or frumpy? I'm so rubbish at fashion I can't actually tell!

I've just ordered a capsular work wardrobe (I'm a teacher) from the Internet and today is trying on day! I've gone for some smartish trousers and lots of coloured thin cotton tops I can layer up and add scarves/jewellery to. I have also ordered this cardigan and I do really like it but I'm a bit worried it might be a bit 'old' for me. What do you reckon yay or nay to waterfall cardigans for a 30 year old as an extra layer for the above outfits? It's this one; www.next.co.uk/gl0170s9#l20048gl0

Live Link I would say it's stylish

Well Pud I have one very much like it

I like it!

mumblechum1 · 28/08/2013 13:02

I like it too!

TickledOnion · 28/08/2013 13:04

Bibbity - where did you get your thin cotton tops? They sound like the sort of thing I am after for work.

Noseynoonoo · 28/08/2013 13:05

I wouldn't call that a waterfall cardigan - even if Next do.

I do like this one.

bibbetybobbityboo · 28/08/2013 13:08

Thanks for sorting the link pud.

Phew, was worried I might be getting it horribly wrong! Quite tempted to buy a second colour now and return the other two cardigans I didn't like as much as this one. Thanks Smile

Tickled, they were next ones too, I liked the colours and I've just tried some on and they look good layered, well I think so anyway. Don't like a lot of next stuff but I think their basics are pretty good for the money and I find it convenient having an account to just try stuff and return what I don't want.

I wouldn't call it a waterfall cardi but I wouldn't say it's stylish either. But looks very useful for teaching and if you like it, wear it!

JazzAnnNonMouse · 28/08/2013 13:21

I think it looks great and is very apt for a teacher.

Joey8 · 28/08/2013 17:34

I don't think they have done the cardigan justice in the picture. I think with the right outfit it would look really stylish but with what that model is wearing it with...no no no.

trinity0097 · 28/08/2013 17:37

I have a couple similar to this, and I'm a teacher, one in a beige/cream from Tescos (£12) and a black one (marks, slightly more, but under £20). Very useful I find to go with lots of things and chuck on/off as you classroom goes from freezing cold to boiling hot when you get the class of kids after PE!

NoComet · 28/08/2013 17:48

That's nice, it doesn't look like it flaps about on the hips, like a lot of long cardigans.

In any case teachers only need to look stylish on parents evenings, with just enough cleavage to distract the Dad's awkward questions. (Or so I was told by a somewhat inexperienced science mistress, employed as much for being good at hockey, as science.)

Smartish and comfortable is fine the rest of the time.

bibbetybobbityboo · 28/08/2013 18:47

Yes stylish might have been a bit ambitious I'm just aiming for professional who does actually know what she's on about as opposed to frumpy scuff bag! I've just tried it on again and I like it a lot so I've ordered the plum one too. New work wardrobe sorted. Thanks Smile
