Help needed with smart casual trousers. (Boden Bistro girls over here )

Right- my boring winter wardrobe invariably includes a pair of black trousers. I don't need to do 'smart' as such often as I work from home and my social life is low key.....but I need some trousers that are one step up from jeans. Got some ponte trousers which I like- zips at ankles- and am thinking about what else? I've bought and returned Boden Bistros in cotton ( cropped) and wool because I decided cropped was no good for winter. But now they have them in full length ( or I could buy cropped but in LONG.)

I've also just bought the 7/8 trousers from The White Company but not sure about side slits with boots - and as I'm petite they look full length anyway.

Opinions, ideas, are black trousers just too boring for words?

I sympathise. Trousers are inherently problematic. I never know what to wear on my feet with them in winter. Black trousers are boring (unless they're summery cropped ones) but most coloured trousers just look a bit odd, somehow. Love my black cotton bistro crops but am returning the grey wool spotty version - which if I remember correctly you don't like anyway - because I've realised they're unflatteringly tight on my thighs Blush.

I'm thinking of giving up on trousers in winter altogether and sticking to skirts, dresses and jeans.

No help am I ?

No you are no help at all! Grin
I am seriously asking myself if I actually need any trousers other than jeany type things for autumn-winter. I prefer black trousers with a nice 'sexy' pump or even a heel but there is no way I'd wear those in winter where any walking was involved- it's boots of some sort all the way for me.

I have ordered the longer version of the cotton Bistro crops but don't have much optimism about them. Expect they will go back. I returned the wool ones because they just weren't 'right'- too short to be full length on me, though did consider ordering the longer length- but dry cleaning is such as faff.

I have these White Company ones which are a nicer fit on me - higher rise and no bulging jodphur thighs- but they'll never set the world alight! Am wondering if I'd ever wear them and like you, should I invest in dresses instead.

Yeah, sorry was in a rush and using 'work' as shorthand for the sort of trouser I think you're after. The 'really skinny' trouser is good, a bit like the slim crops but full length. The skinny mini are pretty long too. Lots of more bootcut style ones too but several cigarette type leg ones.

Here
