Easy everyday up do for thick hair?

I have really thick hair, slightly curly and prone to frizziness. It's fairly long and I tend to wear my hair up a lot of the time, which is always in a bun and I'm bored and want to try something else. Has anyone got any suggestions for quick and easy alternatives? Thank you!

Hi! My hair sounds similar to yours. I have recently started wearing it in a messy side knot/bun/style. Just a bit different than the usual knot on top of the head. I have it quite low behind one ear. Feels a bit more dressy and I always pull a few tendrils out at the front of my face to soften it. Quick and easy! Or I twist it all up on the back of my head and fasten with a big clasp. Have you thought about buying some nice hair accessories? Anthropologie have beautiful hair bands, elastics and clips so even a simple and quick hair knot looks really lovely.

Thanks tigermax, so sort of like a side bun/knot? I might try that. I used to wear my hair twisted up in a clip but have found it increasingly hard to find a clip which doesn't burst open because of the thickness of my hair and I also ended up with a kind of sticky-up tuft thing because my hair is so thick so I ended up abandoning that!

What sort of hair accessories do you think might be worth trying?

There are some really nice elasticated alice-bands around that are sequined or beaded - give a bit of a ballerina effect to a normal knot. I also like hair elastics with decorations - beaded flowers, butterflies or similar. And Kirby grips with stones etc. Think expensive-looking vintag-ey, 50's sort of style! Can look really nice without being to over done or thought through! Then you don't have to be too creative with your hairstyle! I find it difficult to do braids, French plaits and so because my hair is quite heavy it comes undone within an hour. Presuming you have the same problem! Maybe someone else may come around with some good styling ideas!

You just discribed my hair and I was gonna suggest a bun Grin

I do:
two low buns
French plait
Thin plaits leading to a bun
French plait on one side leading to a bun on the other
There's a photo of that one my profile :)

My daughter and I both have the same hair

Waterfall plait
Fish plait pony
French plait over the top leading to a side bun
French pleat

I find wax the best thing to control the frizz halo

The thing that made the biggest difference was finding a hairdresser that understands our hair

They sound lovely Cookie Do your plaits stay in place though? Do you use any products? If I use a texturizing product I can get a couple of hours but otherwise they fall out.

cookie your french plait looks beautiful - I love the idea of braids and plaits in principle but whenever I try to do them I end up getting frustrated as I'm shit at them so they take me ages to do. Maybe I should perservere though.....

Right, am off to check YouTube tutorials and will have a look for hair accessories. chickensalad and tigermax, you mention wax/texturizing product - is there a product/products you recommend?
