If you were choosing a cashmere 'piece' what would you buy?

Pure Collection has some lovely stuff and I'm thinking of either:

Crew neck jumper
V neck jumper
crew neck cardi
V neck cardi

It will be worn mainly with jeans and casual trousers.

Slightly worried that crew and V neck sweaters look a bit old fashioned....

Ideally I'd like a short turtle neck ( like the one I have from J Lewis) and don't suit full polo necks.

Comments?

Gussets.

Do they do gussets?

I like the bofriend sweater.

The BF sweater is nice but it is more expensive and as I am petite may look lost in it.

More likely a crew neck as the shape suits my flat chest better. If I had boobs, a V neck. And for casual wear, a jumper.

dexter73 · 22/08/2013 11:56

I would go for a crew neck. I think turtle necks look very old fashioned so would give that a miss.

missbopeep · 22/08/2013 12:14

I agree that some turtle necks look odd- but the one I got last year is really nice- it's just a tiny bit higher than a crew neck and the jumper has tubular cuffs and hem so it doesn't look frumpy (imo.)

I would buy a crew neck jumper.

Echt Grin

I have Pure BF cardis and they are heaven - no bobbling, decent modern cut and always useful.

Allthingspretty · 22/08/2013 13:21

I would buy(and have done from M and S) accessories for the fact that they are low maintenance

missbopeep · 22/08/2013 14:26

Sorry- looking for knitwear not accessories.

I'd go crew neck jumper, or if you're busty, v neck. Classic, not old fashioned! Though brightly coloured or pastel ones make me think of my grandma, so maybe dark colours are the way to go.

I hate cardigans.

Kezztrel · 22/08/2013 14:52

Not meaning to be ageist BTW, but my grandma is 93 and has been wearing the same cashmere jumpers for 30 years. (Good investment!)

racingheart · 22/08/2013 14:54

I'd buy a long soft boyfriend cardigan, but that's because I'm a bit old, a bit chubby, love them and live in them, so don't take advice from me!

missbopeep · 22/08/2013 14:57

My only thinking was that a cardi is more versatile- you can wear over a dress, a cami, unbutton a few buttons etc. I already have 3 cashmere jumpers but 2 are now in their 4th year- one is V neck, and it's okay-ish, another is scoop neck and the final one is slight turtle neck.

Cardis are v useful, I just think they're prissy and floppy looking. And whoever lusted after a super stylish cardi? No one.

I'm clearly weird about cardis though so please ignore me!

missbopeep · 22/08/2013 15:10

I always wear my cardis quite snug- never floppy and with a cami and the top buttons undone well.......!!!!

In that case I think you should get the cropped roundneck cardigan :) If I had to wear a cardi I'd wear that one and de-priss it with leather, dark nails etc.

LadyBigtoes · 22/08/2013 15:21

I think the ideal cashmere "piece" has to be very simple and pure so you are showing off the lovely feel and texture of it. So I would get a very plain V-neck jumper. I used to have a Boden one, sadly the moths got to it the feckers Angry
