I have always thought/heard? the best natural light for it was at a north facing window and luckily my bedroom window is so I sit at the end of my bed and prop a mirror up on the window sill. this was fine, I thought I was doing ok until I started a new job and the mirror in the bathroom there is beside the window (same wall if that makes sense) and my make-up looks orange in it! I couldn't believe it the first time I caught sight of myself- in all the mirrors at home it seems ok but in this one (a very light bathroom with a large window) I look hideous. my bedroom window is large too so I don't think it's lack of light but maybe the 'wrong' light? i'm not sure what direction the window at work faces (will check on Thursday) the only south facing windows I have are the dc's bedrooms and the kitchen.

does anyone know what the best light is?

Harsh northern light.

That's what I have in my bathroom and it;s uber unflattering, but what it does mean is if you look okay there you'll look fantastic in any other light!

thanks missbopeep- I think i'll have to stand in the front garden with a mirror in future- the light in my room just isn't anywhere near as good as what I have at work.
