Gentle skin products for a teenager girl

My 14 year DD is trying to take good care of her skin but we got lost among variety of products for this age group. She has a few spots occasionally but nothing severe or too problematic. I'm worried that she might damage her skin by trying and applying too many products. Would love to hear your tips and recommendations for skin care of teenagers. Many thanks.

Green people do a range called OY! for teen skin. It's organic and uses natural ingredients so not harsh on young skin. I've looked at it for DS as he's started getting the odd spot.

Green People Oy anti bacterial face wash designed for young skin. Sadly, I am no longer young but still have spots in my 40's sigh ........

Thanks, will check that one.

I use a range called "Your Skin" which is from Tesco. It's very gentle and is designed for teenage skin although I am 10 years past being a teenager Sad Grin

Or is it "My Skin"? Hmm. Either way it's fab Smile

I'd go with boots botanics balm cleanser and their moisturiser. I have spot prone skin, works great for me and the two together will cost less than £10

Cetaphil cleanser and moisturiser. Recommended by my dermatologist- has worked wonders for my acne prone skin. Cheap too. Very gentle and non clogging.

Sali Hughes' Guardian column was about this on Saturday. You should be able to find it on the website. She asked lots of teenagers to try various different products for her and selected the ones tht were best liked. They weren't all for spot prone skin. She recommended some gentler ranges for more normal skin.

Avene or La Roche Posay.
reasonably priced, available at Boots.

I recommend trying some Lush product the Tea Tree Water toner is fantastic, I use it when my skin looks congested and I think they have a cleanser Angels on bare skin which is for spotty skin.

Bexicles · 19/08/2013 14:14

I also second Avene.

Another vote for cetaphil. And at her age - sunscreen, every day, oh how I wish I had followed that advice!

Thank you all for great advice! Will do some more research on each of the above products and hopefully will find something suitable for DD's skin. Another question - what is your daughters' skincare routine? My DD used to overdoes it - cleansing, masks, etc - now she is better. I have to remind her that less is more. Good cleansing product, moisturiser and sun cream are more than enough, I think.
