Sounds like a maths test!!! A train travelling at 60mph from city..... Grin

Can't help really, I bought a professional hair dryer which I think is very similar to a parlux (only cheaper). I love it, it's fantastic, powerful, dries my hair very quicklt, and has lasted me years. Could never buy an ordinary one again.

HappyHugs · 18/08/2013 21:23

Lol lurking, thought that approach might catch a few more eyes but only yours so far!

If I were you, as soon as your Philips hairdryer breaks, high tail it off to one of those salon supplies place and buy either a professional one or a Oarlux. I have asked hairdressers the difference between a Parlux and professional one and they say there's none, can't vouch for that tho. I do know that once you have a parlux/professional one you'll find it impossible to use a standard one. Completely worth the investment.

There have been threads on the Parlux, maybe have a search.

blueberry2310 · 18/08/2013 21:36

I've just bought a parlux and reckon it's knocked about 10 mins of my hair drying from my old wahl one - which was good. Also make my hair look smoother and shinier. Well worth the money. I love it.

slenderman · 18/08/2013 21:39

can you link it? sounds good

Lozislovely · 18/08/2013 21:39

I've got a Parlux, below shoulder length hair and it takes 5-6 mins to dry :)

blueberry2310 · 18/08/2013 21:50

I don't know how to do links and I'm in Australia so bought from an Aussie retailer. It's the 3200 ionic ceramic compact one. It's brilliant. Never thought I'd get so excited over a hairdryer - tragic Smile

HappyHugs · 18/08/2013 22:01

Oh see now I want one. My little girl has long hair, could I justify sidelining the Philips to her mmmm?

I've got a professional dryer (not a Parlux but an ETI from an ebay salon supplier) and I will never go back to Argos hairdryers again. It has 10x the power. I have awful thick frizzy hair: 15 minutes all done.

Eastpoint · 19/08/2013 08:48

I have a Parlux, it is so much better than any other hair dryer I've used. Great for smoothness

snowlie · 19/08/2013 08:55

I was on the hunt for a new hair dryer, very useful thread, I've just bought the power light ionic, I hate drying my hair!

Yonihadtoask · 19/08/2013 09:01

Ooh I wanted one of these.

I sent DH lots of links to website for one for last year's Xmas gift. I got a Remington ):

If I drop it a lot, then I will need a new one, no? Grin

Have heard excellent reports for the Parlux.

valiumredhead · 19/08/2013 09:03

A really good Toni and guy drier would do my super thick hair in 20 mins and if end up with arm ache and bit hot and bothered. The parlux does it in 10.

ToastedTeacakes · 19/08/2013 11:23

I have a Parlux, and am very happy with it. Been using for a while now and the difference isn't so much the drying time (I go slow to reduce flyaway friction to my frizz!) but the smoothing effect. There's just something wonderful about them, and they seem not to damaged the hair from frequent styling like my old ones used to do.

I think time depends upon thickness and length usually. My sister had a short bob and it takes me ages to do her hair because it is super thick and stubborn.

Of course, when you knock it up to full speed it will dry you in seconds;)

I would recommend this, and would never go back to the old ones which always claimed to work wonders (ionic, whatever) but never actually did anything.

valiumredhead · 19/08/2013 11:26

Definitely smooths my frizzy mopGrin

pot39 · 19/08/2013 11:32

Bought mine and TOni and Guy and is branded Toni and Guy. (ie could be a parlux) for £45 5 years ago.
On full power will dry my fine but masses of it shoulder length hair in 5 mins.

valiumredhead · 19/08/2013 11:37

The parlux pissess all over the Toni and Guy one imoGrin

valiumredhead · 19/08/2013 11:37

PissesGrin

TheCraicDealer · 19/08/2013 16:18

It doesn't do mine loads quicker (but I have fine so didn't take ages anyway), but it does make it fabulous, frizz-free and just better. So much so, that my cheapskate mother has just ordered one after trying mine. She just got this one from Amazon.

My hairs' condition is better as well because it's exposed to less heat over the drying time. Get one!

LeoandBoosmum · 19/08/2013 18:24

My Parlux super compact 3500 died after three or four years, using it to try my shoulder-length hair three or four times a week...don't know if that's good going or not. Strange how one day it was working, then it started to go off for a second or two and resume for a few goes, then the other day it sparked and fizzled (scared the shite out of me!) and died.
I get a lot of frizz (fine reddish hair) and just ordered the Parlux 3200 ionic, ceramic compact one... It has 12 really good reviews on Lookfantastic.com (cheapest place I managed to find it) I'll keep you posted.

valiumredhead · 19/08/2013 18:33

I think that's quite a long time for a drier.

ClaimedByMe · 19/08/2013 18:35

I have a GHD drier, it dried my very thick, almost waist length hair in about 5 mins, I have never used a drier like it!

valiumredhead · 19/08/2013 18:38

Let me know how it compares to the compact one!Grin

Karbea · 19/08/2013 20:05

Can't help with the dryer but this definitely speeds up drying!
