Duo Boots

Has anyone shopped with them online? Were you happy with the quality? Any experience of returns/exchanges?

They have recently started selling in France, where my sister lives. She has always struggled with finding boots that fit, but doesn't know anyone who has tried them.

Any feedback welcome! :)

Got fitted in the shop, that should read!

The fact that Duo exists means that I can wear long boots for the first time ever. I have two pairs. Black kitten heeled ones have worn well. Brown chunky biker ones have been problematic as the sole came unglued after minimal wear. Duo refused to meet the cost of postage for repairs and quoted a huge amount of money to even look at them. I got them fixed at my local cobbler. So yes, I would definitely buy their boots again as I'm not aware of any other options but their customer service and aftercare is shit so be prepared for that.

well, all I can do is give the opposite view which is my 3 pairs have taken a good pounding with city walking for about 3 years and are still going strong.

LadyFlumpalot · 19/08/2013 12:13

I've had two pairs, a wine coloured suede pair which are still going strong several years on and a black leather pair where the heels broke on both (one cracked halfway down tbe heel and the other cracked where the heel widens as it meets the sole) within a couple of weeks of purchase with normal use.

ShutTheFuckUpBarbara · 19/08/2013 12:54

missbopeep I mean that they now have a website in French, and a French-speaking customer service dept.

With it being quite a recent thing there aren't many reviews yet.

Thanks all of you for your replies!

I've had a pair of Duoboots since 2007 and they still look good. I have very thin calves and these are the only long boots I've ever had because others just look like wellies on me.

I thought they were expensive at the time but I've definitely had my money's worth.

missbopeep · 19/08/2013 13:20

I think for some of us, the trade-off is being able to buy a pair of knee boots that fit, even if they are not 'cutting edge' fashionable.

I didn't wear knee high boots until I found Duo because none fitted- I think over the years boots and shoes have become wider as the population gets fatter- I didn't have so much of a problem in my teens or 20s when I bought boots.

I can usually find one pair in Duo each year that are nice enough- I tend to go for a flat riding boot style.

Sometimes they do have offers with 10% off and the sales are good if you manage to pick up your size.

coffeeinbed · 19/08/2013 13:28

This is definitely the case, Miss, but the quality has definitely suffered.
Mine were marked badly by hangers, and the replacement pair was only marginally better.
They are not cheap either!
Anyway, I hope I won't need them this year.

missbopeep · 19/08/2013 13:34

That's a shame. I haven't bought any for 2 years, and this year have bought ankle boots instead, or Clarks shorter style which are ok. Their customer services used to be super helpful so let's hope they haven't become blase because they are a niche market.

Claudiecat · 19/08/2013 13:35

I agree with other posters that slim calf fitting doesn't mean they slim the ankles down which they should - as I pointed out to their customer service department. I lost the will to live after trying a third pair and got a refund. Now I can get boots from Dune or Aldo, certain styles have narrow calves and ankles. I personally wouldn't bother with Duo again.

sweetheart · 19/08/2013 14:39

I brought 2 pairs of boots from Duo about 3 years ago and I wear them both often and they are still going strong. I would happily purchase from them again. I did order 1 pair that I returned - not sure if their policy on this has changed in the last couple of years.

onedogandababy · 19/08/2013 18:05

I bought a pair in Bath in 2006 and they've been heeled once. Worn constantly til about April 2011 and still look like new, not currently being worn as no need for smart work boots in my life right now.
I can only assume that production has moved to explain the vast difference in experience...

SucksAtRelationships · 19/08/2013 19:15

Boots were great but sizings are not consistent between diff styles so you really have to see what the reviews say before you buy.

breatheslowly · 19/08/2013 19:32

I've got two pairs. They aren't very consistent in their sizing, one pair is definitely baggier than the other despite apparently being 1cm smaller. The more expensive ones had to go back to Duo to be fixed after a couple of months, but on the plus side they have dealt with the problems.

Julia582 · 04/10/2014 17:12

I've bought from them many times and am a big fan. I have slim calves and they fit perfectly every time! I have three pairs of long boots that are up to four years old and refuse to wear out - the quality in my experience is fabulous! I have just bought a pair of lovely shoe boots, which I'm delighted with.

HOWEVER!!! Beware buying directly from the shop as you WILL NOT get your money back - only a credit note. If you buy online they have to follow the legal requirements but no such obligations exist in the shop. Weirdly though, if you try them in the shop but then ask for them to be posted to you you will have online rights.

I think the credit note thing is completely archaic and out of step with other reputable sellers. Get a grip Duoboots- I love you a lot less today and will always be buying online.
