Capsule Wardrobe Service - good idea or rip off

In my hunt for ideas to sort out my work wardrobe I came across this - www.capsule-wardrobes.co.uk/the-londoner/

Am totally torn between the viewpoint of 400 quid seeming a bit ridiculous to do something I should be able to do for myself (but in reality I never seem able to) versus it actually being a really good idea and might mean far less daft purchases and better value due to better mix and match outfits. Also I'm not sure if they will only recommend high-end clothes which would also rule it out for me.

Anyone used this service or anything similar? Would appreciate some views! Also would a personal shopper maybe be a better answer?

FYI - just back at work in a fairly senior job after my third maternity leave and my work wardrobe is a state having not spent much money for ages and most of last few years been pregnant, post baby etc. Definitely need to 'look the part' a bit more.

I would go to a personal shopper in large store. Free and no obligation to buy if you don't like their ideas.

Also, I really think you need to try things on, which this doesn't offer.

Thanks and yes good point - that would be one of my concerns - all looks good on paper but not on - also sizing can vary so much too.

I'd second the personal shopper idea. I had a session with fantastic lady in John Lewis @ Cribbs Causeway post cancer mastectomy/reduction/ reconstruction/ maternity leave triple whammy when whole body shape and perspective had changed. She was fabulous, brought rails if stuff for me to try, a lot of stuff I would never have looked at! It all went together (based it on a navy colour way), I chose how much I wanted to spend (think it was ~£275 for 2 dresses, 3 tops, 2 skirts, 2 cardigans, all different brands), she gave me details of the other stuff I liked but couldn't buy on the day so I could hunt it down in sales. She also suggested shoes/boots/ how to mix it all up.

She was fantastic, I'm still wearing the stuff regularly (this was 3years ago) and she was free, so I spent all the money on clothes. Two hours and she simplified my life massively. I'm planning to go back when my youngest starts school next September and I go back to work full time.

Thanks - have just looked up the John Lewis one and found this which sounds really good especially the profile service - www.johnlewis.com/our-services/fashion-advice-service

I may just try that!! I'm in the south east so might go for the Oxford Street one.

JL personal shopper sounds like a much better (and considerably cheaper!) option to me! £400 could buy quite a few clothes.
