Eyebrow threading and Roaccutane

I think this is a S&B question ...

I am currently on Roaccutane, which makes eyebrow waxing a no-no (as it'll take more than just the hair off my face). My skin is very sensitive. I have never had my eyebrows threaded but am desperate to sort my eyebrows out. My consultant advised that this wasn't preferable - but I've heard that it can be done.

Can anyone advise me on this? Has anyone tried eyebrow threading whilst on this medication; also, is threading painful/damaging to the skin in general?

TIA Smile

I took roaccutane a few years ago. I find threading harsher than waxing. I used to pluck mine while I took it with no problems.

I have only tried threading once ( not on any meds by the way). I thought it was wincingly painful but mercifully quick.
I have reverted to waxing but my brows are very faint/ sparse so not really a big issue for me.
I think from a pain point of view if the therapist is good it will be very matter of fact and worth it. Can't comment on the meds but good luck !

I would stick to tweezing to be on the safe side. When I was on roaccutane I remember my skin hurting just getting dressed in the morning, or if I accidently knocked it, so definitely wouldn't get them threaded.

I'm trying to remember what I did, I certainly did not go around with bushy eyebrows for 6 months!!! I must have threaded because I hate tweezing and I didn't wax while on Roaccutane. I was on a low dose, 20mg a day, so maybe that makes a difference.

Would threading not be easier on the skin than tweezing?

Thanks for the replies :) see I'm doubling up to 60mg next month so the symptoms get worse, so I thought it'd be best to sort my eyebrows out before that happens. I'm crap at shaping my eyebrows with tweezers but I don't want to risk damaging my skin even more by threading - my dd scratched my arm earlier & it felt like it had dropped off!

Basically threading is multiple tweezing. I have it done every month or so and have dark plentiful eyebrows. It's not overly painful, but it makes my eyes water sometimes, and also makes me sneeze.

The therapist twists some thread, and then keeping the tension tight, rolls it across the skin. The hairs get caught up in the twisted thread and come out like tweezing, but loads at a time.

I think that you would find it very painful.

Couldn't you find a therapist, or even a friend who could do a tidy up with tweezers?

Good job thicker eyebrows are back in fashion!
