Dark hair, thread greys - can i get away with semi permanent colour?

I have dark hair and a sprinkling of silver grey hairs. It's just got to the stage where I need to cover them up.

What I was thinking I could do is use a semi permanent dye in a light, cool brown and that would cover the greys but leave the rest the same colour. Does that sound realistic?

I have cool colouring and blue eyes, for what it's worth.

I was looking at nice n easy light ash brown, but if anyone can recommend a colour that would be great.

I'm not sure if it would work specifically on your hair, i think the only way is to try it and see. I just wanted to say you are right to look for something ash toned as otherwise you'll end up with warm red tones in your hair from the dye and it doesn't sound like that would suit you much

I have been doing that misspiggies. Sadly, I think I've come to the end of the road with that - I reckon there's about 20 -30 of the little buggers up there and it's only going to get worse.

This is what I do and it works well.

Does the rest of your hair look undyed mooncupgoddess? That's what I was hoping to achieve.

Yes, I think so - haven't done an opinion poll though!

If you use a semi permanent, expect to still see some greys.

You might be lucky and they take on a lighter colour, so look like highlights. there's no guarantee of that.

Ok, well, I'll give it a go and see. If not I guess a permanent will be the solution?

Depends what you want really.

If you don't mind seeing a few sparklers, go for the semi. If that would annoy you, I'm afraid permanent is the only way

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 16/08/2013 16:57

It's not a complete disaster at the moment - you'd have to be looking to see them really, so I think a semi might be enough. For a couple of years perhaps!
