Think I need a moisturiser/face cream for old people now (at the ripe old age of 34), getting wrinkly and funny pigment mark things.

I'm 34, use face wash and nivea moisturiser (once a day, I know that sounds a bit gross but I don't wear makeup so don't feel the need to wash anything off before bed?!Blush) I've been using No 7 Protect & Perfect for a few years but only a dab on the bit of my forehead between my eyes (my dad had MAJOR frown lines there, I was starting to get some and a friend recommended the cream, does seem to have helped). Now I'm noticing a few more wrinkles that look like they're only going to get worse, and on my forehead there are some of those pigmenty marks, like big light brown freckles that seem to have appeared from nowhere.

Is it time to start on the Olay? I really don't want anything too complicated but am aware that if I don't start to do some maintenance now it's downhill from here...

I'd recommend sunscreen. This one is really good and doesn't feel at all greasy:

I have quite oily skin still so maybe don't have quite the same problems but I understand Olay (since you mention them) to be a good option for reasonably priced anti-ageing creams. I gather they do a confusing array of products but based on very similar formulations, so it's not critical which product you get - if you look for something in either their Total Effects or Regenerist ranges that says it's a moisturiser with an SPF, you shouldn't go far wrong. Maybe other people will have more specific recommendations.

The pigment spots sound like they may be sun damage? Not sure about that, but definitely prioritise the SPF when you go shopping.

And wash your face twice a day! Even if you don't wear make-up, dirt and sweat accumulates on your face during the day. Even DP wipes his face with a watery cleanser on cotton wool at night. I am a new convert to the Caroline Hiron recommended method of washing twice morning and night, but small steps Grin
