Skin care without moisturiser?

I have always had problems with moisturiser, seems to give me spots when I'm not prone to spots at any other time.

So is it sufficient to cleanse and tone only or will I be wishing in 20 years (I'm 44) I moisturised?

I'm currently using Liz Earle (cleanse & polish and instant boost skin tonic) interspersed with Superdrug's Hot Cloth Cleanser

What's your face like at the mo re. wrinkles, texture?
Do you have really oily skin or is it very sensitive?

It feels quite soft, but I'm getting tiny little bumps over my cheeks but I have been using a new blusher which I think has lanolin in.

I have wrinkles but not massively noticeable although I am aware of them

Could the bumps be lake of moisturisor?

It's hard to say - could be milia?
I definitely think that you need moisturiser, but you need to find one that works for you and you need to know what your skin type is.
Why not book a couple of sessions with good skincare counters in Selfridges/House of Fraser etc and get an assessment?
Hot cloth cleansing is great but I feel that moisturiser is needed too!

I know my skin type and have used the moisturisers recommended by skincare consultants and they still give me a break out?

What will happen if I don't moisturise?

Well I think your skin will get drier and more wrinkly? It's going to depend on your skn type how much this affects you. I've skin that's prone to dehydration so can't not moisturise as I feel very uncomfortable.
Have you tried facial oils as an alternative to moisturiser?

I think you need to read Caroline Hiron's blog - look for her skin fact sheets to find out if your skin is dry, or dehydrated, or both. She often does online clinics where you can ask a question. If she recommends products that are too pricey, I find out the main active ingredients and then google search for a cheaper alternative which still has the active ingredient that I'm after (which is how I found the fab M&S ceramide serum that I posted about last night)
