Right, I for one would like to get some style! I usually wear trousers and baggy unflattering short sleeve tops, which make me look a lot bigger than I am.
I am 5'10/11 and a size 18. What I want is to look nice
I want to do away with the unflattering baggy stuff and find things that fit nicely without making me look like a pregnant walrus.
I want nice coats/jackets. Nice shoes. Know how to accessorise and not feel like such a frump!
I want smart/casual and would like to dress to my shape. Not sure what that shape is though.........
Anyone else?

There is a website called dressipi that helps you know your shape and how to dress for it.

Keep away from SimplyBe and Evans etc.- the cut and prints seem just to make everyone look bigger.

Have a look at Jaeger, Asos (normal range, not curve), Hobbs and peacocks and Tesco for cheaper stuff.

What sort of outfits do you like? Can you link to any pictures?

Thanks for the tips tethersend
The website that 3 mentioned is really good!
I like to wear trousers rather than jeans, but maybe that's because I just haven't been wearing the right kind of tops etc with jeans. I also feel more professional in trousers. I work as a TA, so don't want to look smart smart, and the dress code is that we can wear jeans, I just prefer not to, you know?
I also don't like to wear heels too often, they make me taller than dp and most other people! I spend most of my time in flats or very low chunky heels (if wearing boots), some heels also make my trousers look too short, I like those to come down onto the slope of my foot iykwim.
I don't really like long sleeved tops, as again they can look too short and I feel a bit trapped if I wear long sleeves, or tight or high necked stuff. I would like to accessorise with scarves and layers, but again can get a bit too hot and flustered.
It's also a confidence thing I suppose, I've worn the same kind of thing for the years I've been this big (used to be a nice size 14) and it's a rut i haven't really got the confidence to break so need to find subtle changes to start.
I generally shop in Matalan, tesco etc because money has been quite tight, but now I'm going to have some extra money because no more paid childcare! Grin

i wear tight vest tops with a fitted cardi or blouse over the top - it gives coverage but maintains my shape - otherwise tops just fall down from the tip of my large boobs which looks awful. A couple of matching accessories - you can wear a scarf in your hair and a nice bracelet.
Im no s&b guru but often get complimented on my clothes and look.
What's your shape?

SilveryMoon · 15/08/2013 20:32

Well, I went on the dressipi site, and entered my info. Turns out I'm a block shape (don't know the word). My shoulders are roughly the same width as my hips. So I reckon apple/rectangle shape.
I also wear glasses so don't really like anything in my hair that sits like a hairband, makes my glasses sit funny. Although I am thinking of giving contacts a go........
I like the look of other people wearing vests and shirts. I need to get better fitted trousers and jeans. All my clothes are a size 18/20. I sometimes buy a size bigger than I am, where I suppose i should be embracing my shape instead of trying to hide it.
Trousers are tricky, I need long, my legs are 33/34 inches. All the trousers and jeans I own atm are a size 18 but are HUGE, but when I try on a 16, I can't do them up. Very frustrating (not enough for me to put the wine and chocolate down though Wink)!
