"Mum" jeans?

I used to love jeans when bootcut was cool. Since skinny became cool I have struggled. Only a size 10 but somehow always look parsnip-legged.

I don't know what possessed me to try another "skinny" pair today but I tried Next "relaxed skinnies" on and thought they looked ok so I bought them. Only £26!

Now very worried I have embraced "mum" jeans. It doesn't help that I am single, have not had sex for more than a year, and feel I have totally lost my sense of myself as attractive to the opposite sex.

Should I get some cats and fleece garments to go with these jeans or are they ok?

We don't have a Next so I'm not familiar with their jeans but I had a quick scout on their site and they look ok!

To be honest, I think mum jeans happen for a reason - I've four that my hips are definitely wider since having the DDs and I need jeans that sit higher so that I don't expose myself and my bottom hammock underwear. I've found Not Your Daughters Jeans absolutely brilliant but they are more expensive.

What about feeling good about the way you look, just for yourself? I've been doing things recently just for me, and itscompletely tansformed the way I feel about myself. I gotmy hair highlighted, bought some new makeup and treated myself to some really gorgeous new clothes that make me feel happy when I wear them.

Don't worry, I think you'll look great in them just don't buy a bloody fleece!

I have the relaxed skinny from Next and I love them. Not mum jeans at all. I'd say they are pretty inoffensive and can be worn with anything (BUT not a fleece!!)

I got these the other day after a recomendation on here, I love them. I prefer a lower jean rather than a high waisted one to hide my muffin top. I just wear a longer top.
Had them on on today, rolled up to over the ankle with one star navy Converse and a black and white stripey t shirt.

They is a bootcut version of them.

I like a higher waist because I find they fall down a lot otherwise undignified. I have quite narrow hips so I can't really explain why they fall down - I don't have that waist/hip discrepancy that some of my curvier friends do.

I used to buy "premium" denim (usually by trying on in Selfridges and then buying on eBay) but these days I feel so clueless about style/wash/cut that I can't face dealing with a shop assistant. I do do highlights, nice make up etc. but have totally lost my mojo fashion-wise over the past year. I read fashion blogs and Pinterest and then go and try stuff on and it looks minging!

My kids are approaching that age where having an embarrassingly dressed mum is beyond cringeworthy but I fear I am going there...

I don't understand why bootcuts are 'out'. It's only a fashion thing. If Kate Moss or Cara Delevigne give them the nod soon everyone will start wearing them again.

I have a big arse, and bootcuts balance out my shape. I look like a bowling ball on legs when I wear skinnies. I think that may be where the age factor comes in, you reach an age where you wear what suits your own shape rather than what the fashion magazines declare to be the current uniforms.

But if I could drop two stone overnight of course I'd wear skinnies Grin

I love the relaxed skinnies and feel my most 'non mum' in them! I need some more but was lucky and got my first pair in the sale.

Mendi to be honest, when it comes to jeans I just buy what looks good on me and I'm not too bothered about what styles or washes are in, as they all cone back around eventually! I like a dark wash for fancy jeans, stonewash for daytime.

My favourite pair at the moment are some fat face straight leg I got for £4 in a charity shop!

I live in fear of the day my DDs think I'm uncool :o though I remember one if my favourite things to do with my mum when I was younger was to take her shopping and make her buy something that she never normally would, but that really suited her. It was always really fun.

Marcheline I've heard that Fat Face jeans are good.

I am wearing the relaxed skinnies and I like them. I would say the arse is not as flattering as some more expensive brands but the leg shape is really nice. I've been looking for jeans this shape for ages.
