Kids WARM winter coats

Looking for a really warm winter coat for my 9 year old daughter. We live way up north so it's got to be warm and hopefully waterproof. In the past I have always bought her ski jackets from Next but now she would rather have something a bit less boring!
I know it's early in the season and there is not much in the shops yet but wondered if anyone can recommend brands that they have used in the past that are warm, fashionable and hopefully bum covering!

I'd go for Lands End but I live about as far from you as you get on South Coast! We had a great Squall coat from there last winter and they do padded coats too.

North Face good.

i was going to say Land's End too

Boden ski jackets are also toasty, DS2 was ridiculously hot in his last winter

How about something like this? Lands end coats are very good, this one is half price and will wear well if the ones I've had from them are anything to go by.

year2mum · 13/08/2013 23:02

Wow thanks for the quick replys and great suggestions. Are Lands end coats available in stores as I think we would need to try them on as sending items back is a pain if they don't fit.

I know they are available through the Debenhams website - but I've never seen it in store. However I think you can return to the store if that's easier.

If you follow the Lands End sizing guide, I've always found them very accurate and the cuts are usually quite generous.

Check out Gap "warmest " - I usually get these for my dcs and they are never cold.

pocketandsweet · 14/08/2013 07:45

We have that Lands End coat for dd, in purple. It's gorgeous. Sizing is generous and they have extendable arms to account for growth. I can't imagine that I will buy coats elsewhere now. Sorry. A bit evangelical. I was just so pleased to get such a great coat for so little money.

primallass · 14/08/2013 09:44

I usually get mine either Boden or H&M puffa-type coats.

Landsend parka - down filled and waterproof with extendable sleeves is fantastic, both my dcs have one. Wait on a code though, Landsend discount as frequently as Boden.

lovesmileandlaugh · 15/08/2013 06:18

Has anyone tried Trespass? They have some nice (v.affordable) winter coats? What are they like on size and quality? Thanks Grin

snowlie · 15/08/2013 06:56

Trespass are fine, we've had a few of them but they are nowhere near as good as the down filled waterproof Landsend, that's the best coat my dcs have ever had.

eggsforbreakfast · 15/08/2013 08:20

I spent ages researching coats for dd a couple of winters ago and found the little Trekkers website. I got her the spotty otter coat. So warm and lasted her 2 winters. Will probably go for it again this winter. Can also detach arms and make a lovely body warmer.

My two have had Boden fleece lined coats for the last few winters which have been brilliant keeping them warm and dry. They wash and wear well too. Will be getting them the same this year. We live in the northern Isles where the rain comes at all angles!

Shanghaidiva · 15/08/2013 08:36

Uniqlo also worth a look.

rocketeer · 15/08/2013 08:46

I got a fab coat for my ds from Millets, its lovely and warm and looks nice too!
