Just wondering how you go about it? Do you have a list of a particular style and brand or do you find more bargains when you are just browsing for nothing in particular?

I have been trying to find some wardrobe staples this way but seem to find that lot's of others are after the same thing as me or when it arrives it definitely hasn't "only been worn once"! Any tips?

I have a list of designers and sizes that I like. They're on notification so that it alerts me when something comes up.

I also occasionally browse for mis spellings and badly described items.

I don't know why people by really, really expensive stuff new without discount unless there's cash to burn Confused - it's all so massively marked up new.

I've masses of really fabulous stuff - got a Garrard necklace for 60 quid last month. An Anya Hinmarch £379 bag for 100. A Shaun Leane necklace for £40. And another Anya Hindmarch bag for £16 - original cost £295.

I'm a real cheapskate as well so loads goes for only a tenner more than I'm prepared to pay.

I regularly do a search for my favourite jeans labels, shoe designers and shops... Probably once every week or two.

I've had a few successes, but also got a few failures waiting to be re-listed.

I like to ask questions about the sizing etc.
And try and buy things I've seen irl.

If you buy something and it arrives in a poor condition, do you return it as not as described?

Excuse the mis spellings - have had 2 glasses Grin

I try to go for things that are bnwt. Too many people sell things as bnwot that are clearly not new.

You can also get good bargains if you look for things out of season.

I don't buy from anyone that has less than 98% positive feedback.

I accept that for every five good buys there will be one turkey, usually because people aren't completely honest in the listings. I've bought a higher rate of turkeys when I've bought things that haven't been bnwt.

Always, always check for possible misspellings of whatever you're after.

GoingVerySlowlyMad · 12/08/2013 20:04

Annianni It depends on how much I've paid for it. Anything over £10-£15 I would raise a complaint with the seller, under that I tend not to bother really.

I have a list of items I want and preferred brands and look every other day when I'm after stuff. Laurie it get's me so frustrated when things go for a pound or so more than my highest bid. P.S very jealous of the wine!

Annianni - I just tend to chalk bad buys down to experience.

I try always to go BNWT but even then have had a couple of items which seemed to have had their tags put on again after being worn!
I pay close attention to feedback and I keep a watch out for sellers who stock particular brands I like.
