Bust measurements awaiting bra experts!

Hello

As suggested on here, I have now measured myself and my measurement just under bust is 31 inches. My measurement at 90 degrees is 39 inches. This makes me sound like Pamela Anderson but much to my dismay, my breasts are NOT of the round and full variety, which is why I'm a little sceptical of online estimations but maybe if you take my shape into consideration, it might just work? Thanks!! :-D

(No, it was a 34A. And it didn't fit, but noone made a 34AA. DH learned about the down a back size up a cup size thing and got me to the 32B)

treaclesoda · 12/08/2013 15:52

lucky in a way, in that I've never suffered the crippling backache etc that is associated with big boobs and badly fitting bras. Very unlucky to have been a teenager in the days when a 32G bra looked like this. I thank my lucky stars that things have moved on. Getting changed for PE was no joke, I can tell you. Sad

Ahhhh, the Doreen Grin. So ugly but so comfy!

SorrelForbes · 12/08/2013 16:09

RegainingUnconsciousness I'd say at least a 28DD! Someone I know on-online went bra shopping at the weekend. Measurements of 28/31 and has ended up with a 28DD.

RegainingUnconsciousness · 12/08/2013 16:12

28DD! Who'd have thought these little fried eggs would end up being DDs!

RegainingUnconsciousness · 12/08/2013 16:14

Wait, does anywhere actually make/sell 28DD?

SorrelForbes · 12/08/2013 16:23

Yep, Brastop, Figleaves, Bravissimo and Me & My Curves are good for on-line shopping for brands who do 28 bands. In store, your best bet is Bravissimo, JL and Debenhams.

frogspoon · 12/08/2013 17:01

Sorrel- surely they must have measured wrong, 28/31 should only be a 28C, right (1 cup per inch?)

RegainingUnconsciousness · 12/08/2013 17:01

Thanks! I'll go and look tomorrow and hopefully my bra buying experience will be revolutionised.

SorrelForbes · 12/08/2013 17:06

Nope, they have very shallow wide set breasts so needed a bigger cup to ensure that all the flesh at the sides was contained.

goodasitgets · 12/08/2013 17:29

Interestingly I popped into a local bra shop today (saw a sale sign) Wink
Nothing in the sale in my size but she looked bemused when I gave her my size, but when I tried a bra on totally agreed with me. Apparently they are wide and firm rather than projecting? Hence not looking anything like I thought. She said she would have put me at a 34F by first glance

SnoopyLovesYou · 12/08/2013 21:33

So... to get a measurement in real life I was going to go to House of Fraser? (No JL or Bravissimo near me). There is a Debenhams. Which is better- HF or Debs?

Both very hit and miss tbh. If I were you I'd visit both. Select a handful of bras in your new size and sizes around that and try and fit yourself. If they offer to help, great, but if the fitter starts to measure you and add inches, run!

RegainingUnconsciousness · 13/08/2013 16:01

As expected, there wasn't much choice in the shops round here. I did find a 30D which was a fair fit. Cups actually filled, band fitted, but I could pull it out a fair bit.

It did feel tight though, and different in shape. Which is suppose it would!

SorrelForbes · 13/08/2013 16:46

Yes, it will take a little getting use to!

I bet you move down/up to a 28DD soon though. Bear in mind that Debenhams Gorgeous range & M&S Limited range run very small in the back. I measured a 28E plunge from the latter and it was 25" stretched!
