In a 36E bra rut a drawer full of M&S Jacquard Lace

I'm sure a lot of you will know the bra I mean , its by far and away M&S biggest seller I like it because the straps are fully adjustable so can never slip off and the seamed cups keep side boob to a minimum, but really its far too lacy.

I'd prefer a plainer bra but don't know where to start. Over the years I have tried other, but t-shirt style gave me big round boobs and I don't like it when half the strap is just decorative. So I go back to the old faithful.

Also I've lost a stone so using the measuring guide you all use I'm 34"/41" so should be trying a 34F.

Do any of you have any recommendation before I buy yet more of the bloody things

Have you looked at the Cleo, Panache and Bravissimo ranges of unpadded bras? The Lepel Fiore is very nice too but still lacy I'm afraid.

Straps slipping off is a certain sign that the band is too big so I'd definitely try a 34F/FF.

Smile Hello!

I am a 36E/F and I swear by Freya Deco. They are plain but supportive and tiny bit of push up to hold them in place. Ive currently got 4 in black, nude, red and purple. figleaves sometimes have them on offer, they cost approx £25 but absolutely worth it! Also if you can get to Bravissimo they sell then and will also fit them properly. Ive even bought this bra on ebay if the colour is end of line for example.x

SorrelForbes · 12/08/2013 13:28

The Deco is a very popular bra but many people have a major issue getting a good fit with it. Moulded bras like that can be tricky as they don't mould to your own shape and often cause gaping at the top (especially bad on bottom heavy or shallow boobs).

Notonaschoolnight · 12/08/2013 14:36

Thank for replying I am all sag I'm afraid so definitely would be a contender for gaping ill have a look though

You should look at freya and fantasie

Notonaschoolnight · 12/08/2013 15:10

On Bravissimo now and Fantasie Serene looks just my cup of tea (boring sod that I am, I can't flick passed the colourful patterned ones quick enough ) so my order that one

The Fantasie Serene is a nice plain bra. Have a look at the Panache Idina Balconette too.

ShoeWhore · 12/08/2013 15:20

Bravissimo's Alana bra and the Tango balconette are very good and deservedly popular. I can't wear moulded bras at all, they just don't fit me.

I also don't get on with tshirt bras but find the nude Alana is pretty invisible under clothes.

Notonaschoolnight · 12/08/2013 16:21

Well I've ordered an Alana, a Serene and a Tango in nude 34f for starters

Notonaschoolnight · 15/08/2013 11:24

Well the bras just arrived tried serena first and straight away knew that the bra size 34 was great so I have gone down a size but the cup size seemed a little big , I tried the Tango and there was too much going on under my armpit it didn't feel right, the Alana didn't contain my slightly bigger left boob plus I'm not keen on the boob jiggle you get from balconette I work in a school, I like them to be contained. So I put the Serene back on and decided to reserve the 34e in exchange for the Alana and Tango and see what's best, though knowing my luck ill be right in between e too small f too big big ill wait and see

Frustrating isn't it?! I know the Alana is described on the site as a Balconette but personally I think it's much more of a full cup style. Are you after something with even more coverage?

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/08/2013 14:11

Alana runs small in the cup too - probably by about a half a size

Notonaschoolnight · 15/08/2013 17:30

Ha for someone like me how likes cups near up to their chin it felt like a balconette to be Sorrel, but I think that was the problem with the Alana Statistically, it was a bit small perhaps the ff cup would have given me enough coverage but I didn't want to complicate things ill get the Serene sorted first

I am a 30f, and highly recommend freya

Notonaschoolnight · 22/08/2013 10:04

Ok so I have the Serene in both E&F cups in the E the smaller right boob fits, but I have spillage on the left. For the F my big boob fits but I have wrinkling on the right. Not sure whether to go with either of those options or send the lot back

SorrelForbes · 22/08/2013 12:59

You should always try and fit the bigger breast, so I think you're probably going to get a similar issue in most bras (I certainly do!).

Have you read the Bra Guru blog about asymmetry?

Notonaschoolnight · 22/08/2013 17:43

Nope haven't sorrel but will do now

OP posts:
Notonaschoolnight · 22/08/2013 17:52

That was interesting thank you. Also I've decided to send all the bras back as in Asda earlier I saw a bra I remembered buying years ago that fit well and I'd forgot about so I bought 1 at £6 a 34E and really its a better fit than either size of serene. I think I really need to visit bravissimo while I haven't a clue instead of chancing my luck online

Freya Fantasie = good for DD+
M&S = bad
