Is this the start of rosacea Very unflattering picture - sorry.

I have just started double cleaning including oil cleansing and have noticed a little break out on my nose. But I have had it in the past so it may be a coincidence. I am also in the early stages of pregnancy so it may be hormonal.

I am out in the sun a lot and am not as good with SPF as I should be, although it is always in my face cream I suspect that is not enough, so the redness could be sunburn. I have also had a bit of a sniffle which could also cause the redness

I am in my early 40s.

Even DH has said to me this morning your nose is a bit red,there are about three or four red spots or bumps on it.

Is this the start of rosacea? If so is there anything I can do of is the the start of the decline into old age and a huge bulbous red nose?

I am sorry for the deeply unntractive photo.

I wouldn't say so. I have roscea and it generally starts as blushing and flushing after eating or drinking.

Looks more like a reaction to your cleanser.

Slight relief. I have always used Liz Earle, so maybe it is the oil.

I have mild rosacea, the GP wasn't sure either way but it does look like it. Mine is mainly on my chin but my nose is slightly redder than it used to be. I also get a vaguely rashy look to my chin and sometimes my nose. My chin looks like your nose in that pic, but mine started a few years ago and so far hasn't got much worse. A reaction to a cream seemed to trigger mine, and it also is worse in the Spring, strangely! Probably you are reacting to some ingredient, but even if it is mild rosacea, it won't autmatically progress badly. My brother has it too, and his seems to be stress triggered, but we are an allergic-type family, so that may also be a factor.

Oil cleansing ruined my skin, seriously fucked it up, I'd stop asap personally.

Valium, did it really? I see it so often recommended. Have never tried it myself. Probably will not.
Arisbottle, I have Rosacea. It actually started in my eyes. My skin is very sensitive, prone to irritation and bumps.

It does look like mild rosacea. Don't stress about the WC Fields bulbous nose effect happening though; it is very rare. I use Emma Hardie cleansing balm as that does not irritate my skin but the single one thing that has made the biggest difference for me is Perfectil supplements - they are usually one 3 for 2 at Boots and have taken my redness right down, way better than the antibiotics I was on. Think it may be a result of the zinc but it has been a miracle for me - started to see a difference within 2 weeks and within a month the rosacea cleared. I used a good multi-vit before and never saw any difference so I will keep on taking Perfectil. I love red wine but do normally flare right up. It hasn't happened since taking them. HTH.

Thanks for the perfectil tip-I have rosacea, clear skin but super sensitive and flushing with hot cold extremes, so am interested to see of that will help.

btw did you know that rosacea is caused by demodex mites that live in your eyelash follicles crawling over your face in the night and having a poo?

in other words the best thing to get rid of rosacea is an internal insecticide.

Dame - am really interested in your perfectil tip. Which perfectil is it? Looks like there are a few different types (perfectil plus, skin and hair, etc). They're expensive so I want to make sure it's the right one I try! Thanks :)

Oh, I have heard the dermodex mites theory but didn't realise it was established as fact? I did read that sea buckthorn oil killed the mites, not sure if that is true, but Weleda do a sea buckthorn range.
