DH needs new shoes of the non-toxic odour variety to replace the trainers he wears everyday, that smell like death and have holes in. As designated FEMALE I get to shop for new shoes. Mens summer shoes tho - wow they're ugly! Has anyone spotted any nice ones?

he! glad I'm not alone!

I've never been very good with feet generally but his... urgh. And at one point he had two ingrowing toenails (one on each foot) and had to have treatment. I couldn't look down for weeks...

Barf Meowmix!
You see for me, I don't mind nice feet, but not his: athletes foot, skanky toenails squished and horny from his climbing shoes, toes like squashed sausages - Yuk!!! And he will only wear adventure sandals or trainers, no smart flip flops or mules for him, sigh.

Blush I quite like dh's feet, but they are very, very weird, so my interest is more curiosity than toe-licking lust [bleurgh].
meowmix · 13/06/2006 13:32

so I've done it - pair of lightweight browny grey plimsolls and a pair of nice boaty-style laceups. Now all I have to do is get rid of those trainers [dons face mask and long rubber gloves, picks up blowtorch and sets to work]

My DH has a pair of 'jesus' sandals as I call them, from Clarkes (years old) they look great actually. He only wears them with shorts as unfortunately he won't wear cropped trousers or linen ones. They do need replacing however and we can't find anything similar anywhere.
I would put him in Birkies but it's not his style. I think they look so cool on men - am I sad?

Converse seem to be making a comeback and they are lighter and airer than trainers. Would he go for those? (mine wouldn't !)

Good Luck

mojomummy · 14/06/2006 09:48

what about Clarks & Next ? My DH swears by a pair of slides I bought him from Asda in about 1998. They are sooooooooo comfortable, all airy & bouncy soles & they look nice too.
He did try to 'experiment' with flips flops this year, but quickly reverted back them them. he also has brown sandals (clarks)& some trendy black ones (maybe clarks or Next), but they are a bit uncomfortable - says they bite his feet !

flutterbee · 14/06/2006 09:49

My dh has just bought a lovely pair of sandals, dark brown leather toe post looking ones but then he has fab looking feet, better than mine most of the time Sad Blush

Converse are great. I used to have some until my feet grew during pregnancy (what is that all about??) and I did just used to chuck em in the washer like doodles!

booo · 14/06/2006 16:10

Converse are totally washable and so don't smell if you can remove them from his feet to get them into the washing machine!

meowmix · 14/06/2006 16:46

well he's accepted the new footwear with a stunning bad grace but wants to keep The World's Skankiest Shoes in case the others give him a blister (fgs). And while putting the new ones in his cupboard I found his previous pair of The World's Skankiest Shoes in a Tesco bag at the back. Which means that two years ago when I forced him to buy new TWSS he not only kept the old one but moved house with them too...... i don't get.

Throw them in the bin and then deny all knowledge!

McRobb · 15/06/2006 12:39

Birkenstocks!! I wont allow any other sandal brand on him or in the house.

BamboozlesLover · 15/06/2006 14:57

oooo i love birkies!

Taffindra · 15/06/2006 15:31

Birkenstocks are apsolutely the best - totally comfortable, cheap, good for your feet and look good.

Although DH manages to make even them smell - he left them outside recently and a fox pissed on them - obviously thought they were some kind of strange animal.
