Good sulphate, silicone free conditioner?

I'm not loving mine, finding it hard to find sulphate & silicone free locally. Can anyone recommend? Have coloured & highlighted hair, so need something good, but my hair is light so don't want anything too heavy

Thanks! Thanks

The L'oreal ones in Boots are awful and unlike a lot of other people, don't rate them at all. They're also not totally free of sulphate either, and they contain a little salt, so if you have a Keratin treatment on your hair, they'll strip it.

A friend of mine introduced me to Pureology Hydrate and am a total convert. It's expensive but you only need a 10pence size blob, and it's easily the best sulphate/silicone-free shampoo out there. I got mine from Amazon.

I've read that tresseme naturals are good

Try the new Simple one

I did order the pureology sansucre but the one I got (green bottle) had silicone in it. I ordered the conditioner from this hydrate line, but it had menthol & silicones... I was really disappointed in it, It wasn't cheap!

Hydrate is in the purple bottle, and just been to check the contents and there's no silicone.

I also don't use conditioner, I use coconut oil. Since I've been using Hydrate, I've not needed conditioner. (I also have coloured hair and found that Hydrate doesn't make it fade nearly as fast either.) Maybe reconsider using conditioner?

I know SPaceNK sell a shampoo that is totally silicone free, I think it's called No Frizz. It's supposed to reduce frizz, hence the omission of silicone as that weighs hair down and actually makes it frizz! I used to use it years ago.

Skinny I use Aveda Damage Remedy conditioner, on my fine coloured hair, and it's been brilliant. My hair used to break at the front, so my 'fringe' never grew longer than about 3", but it has grown full length since I have been using that (it took a year to work its way down the hair shaft). My hair had never been anything to be proud of but sometimes, now, it looks lovely. (I also use their shampoos).

I can't find a full ingredients list so suggest you pop into an Aveda stockist and ask. House of Fraser shops usually have big shops within shops.

It is expensive but I only use a pea sized amount twice a week as does BabyBearleigh, and the tube lasts about 18 months.

Ok, I got the pureology essential repair shampoo, and it has dimethicone in it. The hydrate conditioner has amodimethicone as the 3rd ingredient. Maybe I will email pureology to clarify.

Bearleigh, I'll check out aveda, thanks.

It's hard to find a conditioner that does not contain some sort of *cone. A lot of the major brands seem to have got rid of silicone, and replaced with dimethicone. So they can put silicone free on the label, but it still contains something that people may wish to avoid.

I haven't tried this one from REN, but it seems to meet your requirements

I've used this one for the last couple of years on my long, highlighted hair. It's the best I've found:

REN conditioner is the only one for me!

Iatemyskinnyperson · 05/08/2013 23:33

Thanks, I have seen the Yes to Carrotts one so will pick that up. I will order the REN one, have wanted to try out that line for ages...

Thanks all

Ok, went into town today to visit local health beauty place.

Came out with John Masters Organic range. Either this will be the answer or I have been sold a pup (again)

Will post again if they're any good.
