I'm going back to work in sept after 8 years. I used to teach secondary and the dress code was very much trouser suits, smart dresses and jackets etc. I'm now going to be teaching year 5 at a school where it seems a bit more casual.
I've got 3 jersey dresses that would be suitable and a skirt I think would work but otherwise not sure where to start. Budget is more m and s/ next than Hobbs type stuff as it's just a single term maternity cover and I don't want to spend too much in case it doesn't lead to any more work.
I am 5'4, a size 14 and have very chunky legs, so trousers that are too slim fit tend to get stuck half way up and above the knee skirts are a no no.
Thank you

I wear plain tshirts with cords. Every single day!

Don't wear anything to tight or revealing. Wear layerable stuff as primary schools fluctuate between boiling and freezing. Think casual ish rather than important meeting - trousers (whatever suits) with a top. No trainers (unless is that kind of school). Skirt with thick tights, boots and a thin jumper. If you have to spend any length of time with KS1/EYFS, you need stuff that washes well. DP/New Look type stuff fine. Get to know your school and dress accordingly. As there is no 'uniform' you end up wearing stuff outside of school unless you create one of your own, if you see what I mean.

too

How about starting with bottoms ; two pairs of wide leg trousers , an a-line skirt (black or navy ) pencil skirt , then you can add simple coloured tshirts in a shape that flatters you with a few nice scarves and necklaces , a couple of nice blouses .Iv got lots of blouses and Ts that fit well so look good with trousers or skirts , easiest and cheapist way to go!hope that makes sense and good luck with the job!

Plenty of stuff in next. Have you got a copy of the directory? It's not terribly exciting but fine for work. Remember to do the cleavage check by leaning forwards in front of the mirror!

Lol at the cleavage check. I spent many years in secondary teaching doing that. I'll have a look at next. Think it's more a trousers than cords kind of school. Will look for some plain bottoms and pretty tops. I have lots of different coloured cardies

My room is either boiling or freezing so I tend to go for layers.

In the winter I like dresses and boots with a cardigan/jacket or gillet.
Trousers and tops are my other options.
Make sure everything is washable and that nothing is too revealing. Lean forward in front of a mirror to check for cleavage reveal.

I tend to buy most of mys stuff from Ebay Asda and Tesco so if anything gets ruined it isn't a disaster.
