Soho House wedding reception...what to wear?!!!

DD's godfather has kindly invited us to his wedding and the reception is at Soho House - I know this venue is a bit media trendy and famous for Sadie Frost's child swallowing an extacy tablet there!

Am panicking over what to wear. The bride is an international fashion buyer. I am from the sticks. I am 10 years older than the bride to boot. Considerably poorer. I am more of a size 14 than a size 4. Do I have to wear a hat?!! I think I need to resign myself to the fact that however hard I try I will be frumpsville compared to most of the guests!

for a blonde bobbed 6yo dd my immediate thought is something very simple, slightly French and not at all trendy - try La Redoute for \link{http://www.redoute.co.uk/redouteuk/sZoom/0,3061,35094,00.html\this} kind of thing.

totally LOVE the suggestions for dd!

Hat totally out the window

Fresh haircuts all round with decent blow dry on the day

I will look at the type of shoes suggested which sound comfortable - in a colour to match my outfit

Will maybe get nails done professionally!!!! Have not done this for 15 years!!!

Can re-bleach teeth to undo tea and red wine stains of last 12 months Blush

Scared of trendy sunglasses though - convinced I will look stupid

Will make sure I have a lovely bag (but it will be a cheap lovely one, not a status £300+ one...£30 absolute max for me and bags!)

Thanks you guys, I'm starting to look forward to the people-watching opportunities of this!

So is it really as cool/trendy a place as it makes out does anyone know?

And if so does dp have to match his tie to my outfit Wink

tbh I would fail to recognise 2 out of 3 celebs anyway Sad

I am the type to aimlessly ask Richard E Grant if he has seen any good films lately Grin

Just wanted to echo everyone else and say keep everything as simple as possible. You'll look more elegant, and won't feel awkward and unlike yourself, and you won't look as if you've tried too hard.

If feel a little uncomfortable on the day (not that you will, of course, as you'll look stunning), just remember that my ex-boss once vomited all over the bar and staff at Soho House. Classy. And they didn't revoke his membership either.
