Help me dress for a Ladies' Day

I'm going to a local horsey event at the weekend, which is marketed as a Ladies' Day. We are going as a group of old school friends and are all supposed to be dressing up.

I don't really do dressing up Grin

However I have just lost 5 stone and so would rather enjoy looking fabulous for once, just for the novelty factor. The problem is I don't have a huge amount of clothes in my new size, and I don't have the budget to buy anything new really.

I own the following dresses:

  1. A black and gold baroque print maxi dress, which I think is a bit too "evening", also it is made from synthetic fibres so will be hot to wear.
  1. A blue butterfly print sundress, which is flattering but I think is a bit too casual.
  1. A black and ivory print knee length dress, which has straps and a quite fitted bodice and a flared out skirt and is quite flattering.

I think I am going to go for the third dress. I have a black pashmina and a black and ivory fascinator sort of thing (I know, I hate them, but some kind of headwear is expected and I don't have a hat that would go). I am thinking simple pearl studs and bracelet as the dress is quite busy in its pattern, and nude heels?

I have booked a facial, eyebrow shape and file and polish hands and feet. I was thinking quite neutral finger nails and a pop of colour on my toes - what colour do you think would work best?

Do you think I will look OK? Is there anything I have forgotten?

You sound like you've got it sorted. Smile If it suits you what about coral for toes? (And fingers actually?) That basically seems to be a non-neutral neutral now IYSWIM.

Ooh yes, I do like coral. Would it look a bit matchy to have the same on fingers and toes?

Ooh I dunno. I'm worried now, I was going to have matchy coral fingers and toes for a wedding on Saturday. What does everyone else do?

Sounds like you will look lovely.

I am goingto a ladies day in 2 weeks, I have only been once before, but the variety of how people dressed was huge! Some dressed up to the nines like they was going to the oscars or something, others in sundresses and casual. Everyone fitted in and looked lovely.

And I like matching fingers and toes, looks smart. Pinky coral does seem to be very in at the mo

I have been googling the matching finger and toe nails question, and the results come out as totally undecided Grin

Normally I go for bright toenails and clear or nothing on my fingernails. But maybe if I am trying to look a bit more posh for Ladies Day it would look more "together" to have them match?
