And there is no big change. Some slightly newer shapes, and a nice leather Autograph dress, but no really change, still plenty of printed polyester. The older girls range still continues to be both trashy and frumpy at the same time....any other opinions?

Anyone?

went in yesterday. liked some of the autograph stuff, nice mac and chunky jumper.
saw a little red patterned silk top too.
like the indigo jumpers and jeans and denim mini.

came away with two bras for £7 !!

snowlie · 31/07/2013 12:08

I like this dress and this bag.

Missbopeep · 31/07/2013 12:21

I don't even bother looking now except at knickers.

Missbopeep · 31/07/2013 12:25

Actually, just to see, I've had a peek and as usual anything remotely nice is already sold out in small sizes- a longline cashmere jumper for £65 is sold out up to a 14 in some colours.

they ALWAYS do this- it's the same with nice bras etc- they seem to have a real problem with stock control/ what will be popular.

mrsshackleton · 31/07/2013 12:32

I glanced yesterday when the email came. Online is a shambles, impossible to separate nice new stuff from dross in the sales. Or maybe the nice, new stuff is drossy too. Disappointed. I think M&S are on a kamikaze mission. How can they get food so right and clothes so wrong?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/07/2013 13:28

I want one like this but in grey. I do NOT want a cashmere jumper with a bloody snow leopard on it, thank you.

I like this but it's expensive.

Otherwise it all looks like the same old crap, all lovingly created in 100% polyester.

shaggyrogers · 31/07/2013 13:31

I saw the snow leopard cashmere jumper in m&s the other week and just thought that sums up their clothes for me - so bad! Mind you someone has bought one to wear while walking the dogs and loves it if you read the review!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/07/2013 13:35

All M&S need to do to get their clothes right is to come on MN and do what we tell them to. There really is no excuse for them getting it so, so wrong all the time. Idiots.

orangeandemons · 31/07/2013 15:00

Ugh, the cashmere snow leopard. Who is going to buy an expensive cashmere jumper with that on? I prefer my chambers plain, as it is an investment, so I don't want it to date

OP posts:
lurkingaround · 31/07/2013 16:14

Sheesh. Just looked at the snow leopard. Wow. That is bad.

lurkingaround · 31/07/2013 16:20

Sorry pressed 'post' too soon. Another one here who can't make head nor tail of M&S. Agree MissBo, poor stock control. Disastrous. Must have very poor buyers.

Missbopeep · 31/07/2013 16:39

yes disasterous.
if you want a remotely nice bra in a popular size ( which seems to be 32C or 32D) then you have to look every bloody week because as soon as they get one- whoosh- out of stock in minutes.

LadyMilfordHaven · 31/07/2013 16:43

Russians. They like snow leopards

INeedSomeHelp · 31/07/2013 16:50

I saw a few things in store today that I liked for work. Think they were mostly in the Collection. A nice tweedy a-line skirt in a sort of coral colour and a coyple of dresses. But I guess it depends what kind of things you're looking for

cafenoir · 31/07/2013 20:32

I was on one of their consumer focus panels about 12 years ago. They just don't seem to be able to listen and then do anything constructive with the feedback they're given though. It's a gift to be that hopeless! Whoever designs for them, models for them, buys for them - all seems to make little difference when it comes to meeting the needs/wants of their customers.
Our city centre store has been revamped but it's still bloody hard to make sense of where everything is and why it's been placed there. Or find anyone to help without scouring the entire floor.

Oly4 · 31/07/2013 21:10

I love some of their new autograph and collection stuff, some of it is classy and reasonably priced. Agree there are some horros, like the 'ooh la la' jumper

Oly4 · 31/07/2013 21:10

Horrors not horros!

MrsCampbellBlack · 31/07/2013 21:15

Their site is beyond shite.

The photography is rubbish, the layout is crap and they are incredibly slow to deliver.

I couldn't find their new stuff easily so gave up. But did notice lots of comments on their fb pages about how their stuff wasn't suitable for their core 50plus market.

mrscumberbatch · 31/07/2013 21:28

I am waiting for the leopard print coat that they previewed in the papers months ago- but none of this looks as tailored or as luxe as I thought it would be.

Quite disappointed. I would happily pay for nice tailoring and no daft motifs.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 31/07/2013 21:31

MY M&S seems to be full of utterly awful sequined jumpers with dreadful motifs on them.

I am one of the core 50plus people, but won't be buying much from them this year.

They are STILl trying to be all things to all women all the time, and FAILING. To many ranges, too many collections and still too many racks of horrible trousers and jumpers.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/07/2013 21:47

Allthings I really like that bag - I'm after a bowling bag/ Doctors bag style but I don't buy leather handbags (I'm a Kipling bag lady) so that one looks like it should have a closer look.

I bought a pair of black velvet leggings with a jaquard burnout pattern (if anyone is interested Grin )

In London what M&S Store should I head for?
I'll be taking DD to Primark for my sins.
Is it the Marble Arch one that's nice?

thecatfromjapan · 31/07/2013 22:35

70 - Marble Arch branch is good. It is next to Selfridges and very near a big Primark (!) If you go into Selfridges, make sure you go downstairs: there are lots of nice "home-ish" things down there.

Marble Arch (and Oxford Circus) M and S have the Beauty areas, which are stuffed with mid-price goodies for face and body (and lots of mid-price perfume, too).

Oxford Circus M and S is closer to Liberty and all the Regent Street shops. And Top Shop and Urban Outfitters (for your dd) - but I'm guessing you are all set for Primark!

Angeletta · 31/07/2013 22:37

Marble Arch is the flagship and usually my first port of call. If you can't find an item in the right size there you can take a bus down Oxford Street to the Pantheon store where it may be in.
