Need your help ladies, I looked in the mirror in shock!

I need a new face skin care regime - recommend me your products please!

I have fair, sensitive, dry skin with red cheeks/ nose
Lines around the eyes most prominent

currently I use religiously morning and before bed:
clinique extra sensitive soap (white one)
dermalogica ultra calming cleanser
dermalogica toning spray
dermalogica skin smoothing cream

all of a sudden its not enough! What do I need to add/ change? Have done a bit of googling but its all so bloody confusing....

One suggestion. Don't know if you can get it in England but look for Trilogy rosehip oil. Miracle stuff. Swear by it.

Kiwiinkits · 30/07/2013 02:21

www.trilogyproducts.com/

Walnut8 · 30/07/2013 08:05

what does it do Kiwiinkits?

amessagetoyouYoni · 30/07/2013 09:50

I'd sack off the soap and just use warm water and a muslin, morning and evening.

Perhaps look into a facial oil for night times. I use a Clarins one, but Neals Yard do a nice rose face oil thats good for sensitive skin.

JennySense · 30/07/2013 14:44

Perhaps try some French products like avene or la Roche Posay from boots in the sensitive skin range.

MrsCR · 30/07/2013 18:20

Thanks, popped to Boots today and have embraced a whole new world of skin care.

Do you rate dermalogica age smart? The lady in boots recommended it.

I have some clarins stuff for night time - oil that you only use a tiny bit of and some eyesilix (sp)

Thinking of ordering the age smart range to replace my existing D stuff too

Off to google the other brands you mentioned.

Costing me a fortune, but I am going to give it 6 weeks and if I see an improvement it will be worth it!!

Warm lemon water first thing in the morning. Cheap and works.

MrsPercyPig · 30/07/2013 19:04

I love Decleor prolagene gel!

plumps up the skin

Kiwiinkits · 31/07/2013 02:00

Walnut8 the rosehip oil really seems to clear up any blemishes and wrinkles, even really old acne scars and stuff. Don't know what the magic ingredient, some sort of alphahydroxy something? All I know is that it works. Also really good for stretchmarks, c-section scars etc.

Want2bSupermum · 31/07/2013 02:08

You should go see your GP. There might be something underlying such as a thyroid/hormone problem or rosacea. While in the UK rosacea is often treated as a non-issue here in the US they have taken it quite seriously. I see a dermatologist twice a year and whenever I have a flair up. They have taken a good look at my skin and told me what products to use. I would never have picked them out myself.

filee777 · 31/07/2013 02:19

Dr haushka is absolutely amazing and all very very natural throughly recommend

filee777 · 31/07/2013 02:20

P.s Clinique is like the most damaging and harsh system aro

xigris · 31/07/2013 02:26

I love Dermalogica and have used it for years. It's great stuff. I'd really recommend going for a Dermalogica facial and getting advice there. My mum did this about 20 years ago: she's now 65 and has the best skin ever

Walnut8 · 31/07/2013 13:24

Kiwiinkits ... I have to try this. Have often seen it in pharmacies!

I agree with filee77 that Clinique is terrible for sensitive skin. I havent really found any dermalogica products that did all that much either to be honest. Avene have some really effective stuff for acne-prone sensitive skin.

MrsCR · 31/07/2013 13:39

I do keep seeing snippets that the clinique 3 step is a load of tosh. I started with the yellow soap bar but found it too harsh hence moving to the white one - its fine, nothing special and did the job I guess but the last two days I have been washing my face with cleanser instead (a l'occtaine acid based one I got free on a magazine a few months ago Blush whilst waiting for the Dermalogica to arrive) and it already feels better.

want2bsupermum what products did they recommend you for roseaca? Can you get them in the UK? I did mention it to the GP YEARS ago and it was totally dismissed as nonsense but my mum definitely has something similar - flare ups, lumps and redness sometimes - and gets antibiotics for it. My face sometimes gets a few lumps like spots that never break out just feel a bit itchy but only really mild. I put it down to hormones tbh as seems linked to the monthly cycle....

so more water - tick, lemon in warm water in the morning - tick, going to order some rosehip oil too

can anyone suggest a good oil based cleanser for the evening double cleanse? Or would the rosehip oil be used for that too?

JennySense · 31/07/2013 16:31

I use trilogy too. You can get it on amazon or in boots. I would suggest avene or la Roche Posay as they do offer more nuanced skin types than just dry, normal, oily etc

OverAndAbove · 01/08/2013 07:00

Another thumbs down for Clinique - a lot of salons say it is one of the harshest systems around. Dr Hauschka is great for sensitive skin; I would also say to reduce the total numbers products youse and simplify things nail you find a really good cleanser and moisturiser that keep your skin calm. Then add whatever anti-ageing you need, when you know everything else is under control.

And water, and sleep. Easier said than done!
