Readymade Bra Carriers/Snaps

So, I have gone mad for all these drape and cowl tops that are around now, but having just massively flashed everybody in Costco.

And all my neighbours.

And the Ocado man quite spectacularly...BlushBlushBlush

I really need to find some way to attach these tops to my bra. My naice Viyella shells that my mother used to buy me have these little threaded popper arrangements on the straps so your bra never shows, and that is clearly what I need. I have googled and found lots of advice about turning in ribbons and crotcheting etc and that's great but are there any readymade things that I can just buy and sew/glue/wonderweb into my tops?

Anyone have this problem? How did you solve it? Shall I just give up on bending over until it's snowing again and I am respectably jumpered?

Don't tell me to sewwwwwwwwww. I don't have a sewing machine and this is a conscious choice. Grin

I have a phase eight cowl top but it came with a little vest top underneath in matching fabric that solves the problem. I am trying (and failing) to picture the bra thing you are describing. will watch with interest Grin

A bra carrier is a popper sewn to the underneath of the strap or sleeve of your top. The popper is attached to another popper with a little length of thread or ribbon. You pass the ribbon under your bra strap and snap the popper closed. Then your bra strap never shows and if you're wearing a cowl or wide necked top or dress, it stays in place.

They're great. They should be on everything. I could take all these tops into an alterations place but it seems like such a simple thing. I feel like one ought be able to just buy them! It may just be so old fashioned it's a secret from the internet.

Something like this?

Although I think it might be worth sewing on a bit of ribbon and a snap ,myself.

DameFanny · 30/07/2013 20:55

Or just a safety pin each side if you don't want to sew?

I have terrible RSI from typing like a maniac. It really kills to sew things.
