Clip-in hair extensions. Where do I begin?

I would like to try some but I'm not going for the WAG/glamma girl look.

I had my hair cut into a long bob in May and it's pissing me off. I am growing it out but I'd like some length for an event in August. I've looked on Sally's and they look a bit scary.

Has anyone used them and can you recommend any please?!

I have a friend who wears them but she has to get another friend to put them in for her. She can't blend them in with the shorter hair by herself.
She is an buffoon though so that might not be the best example.

You should be thankful you still have hair. I decided to cut my shoulder length hair a couple of weeks ago. Shaved the back and one side and then changed my mind Shock.

Now I've got lopsided hair Sad

I am having trouble visualising... maybe a picture would help?! Grin

A picture of my hair!?
Think Phil Oakey during the Don't You Want Me era.

Try the Dorothy Perkins clip in extensions. They are quite good.

milktraylady · 28/07/2013 17:39

Salon confidential is the brand, on you tube on how to put them in.

MarmaladeTwatkins · 28/07/2013 17:40

Rawr, I quite fancied Oakey with his lopsided bob.

Dottie P's you say, milktray?! Who'd have thought it?! Will have a look online... thanks!

I admit I did cut the other side up a bit. Though decided to bleach it this morning and it's gone orange.
Maybe I should be looking at extensions.

milktraylady · 28/07/2013 17:58

I know, dotty p isn't where you would think to find fantastic extensions. They clip in really well, there's dead straight, a bit curly & more curly. I picked the medium curly & it's not curly enough for me. Quite easy to style, and only look plasticky in flash camera light.
£45 so didn't break the bank. Colour luckily matched mine perfectly.

Have fun!

Hershesons are really nice. You can buy them from ASOS.

MarmaladeTwatkins · 28/07/2013 18:26

Thanks for the tips, am looking at some now...

So, what would be your advice for actually getting them in and blending them with your own hair?! I am so shite with my hair that even putting it into a ponytail is difficult for me. Grin

Watch the YouTube vids & practise a few times. Do you have mini bulldog clips? I found it best to-
-Brush hair though
-Section according to map in the hair packet- using tail comb & mini bulldog clips
-spread out the hair sections by length on the bed- comb them through
-clip in the hair sections as per the map
-'style' your hair to blend in the edges with your real hair. 'Smooshing' like the hairdresser doesWink

Voila! Fabulous hair ready to go!

For a woman who can make a superior cake- easy peasy Wink

MarmaladeTwatkins · 28/07/2013 18:53

I've got loads of mini bulldog clips!

Map?! Agggghhhhh, this is going to be tricky and I am going to look like an Afghan hound! Will look on YouTube now!
