Does brazilian blow dry and sports/sweat go? And other questions?

I know there is a huge thread on the Brazilian blow dry already and have read it. Couldn't find the answers to two questions I have.

I am doing couch to 5k at the moment. So I am sweating every second day. Will this lesson the amount of time the blow dry lasts for?

Also, I am going to use GHD's to do the straightening process. Has anyone else used their GHD's and were they hot enough to work. Think I read they straighteners should be 220 or 240c. My ghd eclipse heats up to 185c. Does anyone think they will be hot enough.

I am not buying different straighteners so my ghd's will have to do. Just wondered type of straighteners everyone else used?

Thanks.

I am considering the Brazilian treatment, therefore am also interested in the answers to these questions. Thanks

I've used the Charles Worthington home straightening kit, used my GHDs and worked well. I think you need to leave 48 hours before washing your hair so think that might affect it if you're sweating and also you can't tie your hair back. Could you do your exercise, then do the treatment straight after, then leave it for 2 days?

Iliketocldulean- I presume it is similar stuff. Hopefully the ghd's will work.

I go jogging every second night so whilst the lotion is in my hair I won't jog (think it is 3 days) , just wondered if doing sports a lot after it is washed out would mean the bhd not lasting as long.

I was just hoping someone out there has experience of this.

Thanks for answering ILikeToClean

I wash my hair probably 6 days out of 7 and it lasts pretty much 12 weeks, I think it will be fine, like everything, different hair reacts to different treatments and you'll only know once you try! The CW I use is only £15 so not too bad every 3 months! Good luck Grin

I'm interested in this too. I really wanted to do it, but didn't want to take the 3-4 days off from running neither. The other thing I worry about is that my hair might end up really flat and look lank?

CrispyHedgeHog · 29/07/2013 08:05

I would say that 185c is not hot enough.

I've been using this treatment for a couple of years now and my own straighteners go up to 230c and the result has always been brilliant. However, they were broken the last time I did it and so I borrowed a pair that aren't as good and the result is definitely noticeably inferior.

trickydickie · 29/07/2013 12:47

Hi Crisyhedgehod, thanks for reply. What make/type of straighteners do you have? I cannot go out and buy new ones but could ask round my friends to see if I could borrow theirs if they have the appropriate ones.

Chopstheduck- I am worried about my hair ending up looking too flat too.

Iliketoclean - £15 is a fantastic price. I had actually ordered the bhd kit but a message came from amazon ystday saying my payment hadn't went through, so I am quite happy now as not sure about buying the bhd one if it stops me jogging for 3/4 days and ghd's aren't hot enough. I am away to read up on the Charles Worthington one. Thanks.

the charles worthington one is no where near the brazilian one imo it does not condition hair just straightens, the amazon one is amazing as it leaves hair soft and silky. if you use a salt free shampoo no reason why it won't cope with exercise routine after the 3 days before you can wash it. I was mine every day and it lasts up to 3 months.

trickydickie · 29/07/2013 16:27

Sltepaway - thanks for reply. what type of straighteners did you use during the application?

Hiya Tricky

They're babyliss ones.. can't remember the exact model but they're about 3 years old and they go up to 230C

Definitely made a huge difference.

ILikeToClean · 29/07/2013 17:34

Stepaway- the CW is probably not as good but works on my hair as it's just thick and frizzy so just calms it down. I used to go to the salon, over £100 so although CW is nowhere as good it still does a decent job, depends on your hair really. OP I would say whatever you use get a sulphate free shampoo and conditioner, that really helps! I get CW on amazon too as don't seem to be able to get it in Boots anymore.

trickydickie · 29/07/2013 18:32

Thanks. I will ask around to see if any friends use the babyliss ones.

I used GHDs old ones so probably hot ones. I also bought a heat glove from amazon for around £5 the second time I did it. You must use salt free (sodium chloride) free shampoo and conditioner afterwards doesnt have to be sulphate free. I use sainsburys kids cherry shampoo cos I like the smell and its cheap. also use tresemme keratin stuff too. just check ingredients on whatever you use and if its got sodium chloride in it dont use it.
