the situation:
DS is now 8 months old and I need to do something urgently.
for the last year the only hair cuts i've had were carried out by DH (landscaper not hairdresser). i've had other things to worry about so it didn't bother me too much before but now i've noticed it's got a bit lopsided - it's curly so not too noticeable.
lost a lot of hair over recent months pp but it seems to have stopped falling out so much now.
i've got a bit of fluffy regrowth around hairline but not too bad.

so obviously it needs attention BUT
I want to grow it longer again
I don't know the etiquette of babies in hairdressers (loath at home hair cuts)
I don't have a regular hairdresser so no-one sympathetic to my requirements

I've lost confidence and I look like crap, where do I start?

Do you live in London?

DuckWaddle · 27/07/2013 10:20

I found a hairdresser who comes to the house. It worked brilliantly and amazingly she was far cheaper than a salon.

PrunellaDeVille · 27/07/2013 10:25

not London unfortunately, out in the Cotswolds.

can I take my baby in his pram, largely quiet and amenable, to the hairdresser? will it upset staff/other customers?

I think you can def take your baby in but if it'll add to your stress re going then could you OH look after your baby whilst you go in? Allows you to have some time to yourself too?

Go in and ask in a salon you like the look of. I go to a local salon (as in not town centre) who were baffled that I asked permission to bring dd2 Grin they fight over who gets to hold her while they bliw dry my hair they love it! I'm gong next week when she's at nursery - they will complain I. Haven't brought her he he

I did go for a less trendy salon for this reason though - its a more family and old ladies having a shampoo and set type place than Toni and guy - can't fault them though Grin

Most salons are quite quiet during the week. I am sure if you bring your baby at a time when they won't be too disruptive they won't mind at all.

Ringing up to check that it is ok to bring a baby certainly won't do any harm.

The post baby fluff is a pain, I have a 7 month old so have the 'halo' of baby hair too.....I had only just about grown out the post baby fluff from DD (2.7!).

thanks ladies. I need to get on with it, no more fretting, and hope ds is in a good mood when I go. Good to hear it's not necessarily bad form to take him along.
dh can't take him as he's working full time and building a house for us in his spare time, so his hands are full.
