I know there are plenty of favourite products threads but what is your number 1, better than any of the competition can't live without favourite.

I fancy a but of a change/splurge so am after recommendations.

Already a big fan of Botox mrsCB Grin

I'm actually toying with the idea of a bit if filler but not sure...

Coconut oil again! I buy mine in 500g pots from Amazon or Ebay. It's solid when cool - keep it in the fridge and lop a bit off to melt in your hands.

My best-ever hair product is unavailable in the UK. It's Brazilian placenta hair conditioner. Really cheap, and performs miracles - it's good for the skin, as well. I'm thinking of sending off to New Zealand for some dried placenta to make my own! (Dangerous for children & teens, though.)

My best-ever life-enhancing beauty product isn't a product, it's a service: a proper feet overhaul with a chiropodist. I'm reduced to DIY these days and can't match the professional lightness of step!

And control pants. Never underestimate control pants Grin

Branleuse · 27/07/2013 12:23

botox

double wear

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 27/07/2013 12:26

Just don't eat the coconut oil. I did after people on here were raving about how great it was for glowing skin and you don't put on weight. Well guess what, people...I did put on weight!

valiumredhead · 27/07/2013 12:39

You don't eat it-you oil pull with it!!

yerwan · 27/07/2013 12:41

Is oil pulling really that good? It seems a bit gross to me...

UnicornsPooGlitter · 27/07/2013 12:46

garlicagain, placenta Shock? What Shock?

PlatinumStart · 27/07/2013 13:02

Oil pull?

garlicagain · 27/07/2013 15:33

That's what I thought when I first saw a bottle, Unicorns Grin

Brazilians have amazing hair. Old-style Caribbean women used to treat their hair with actual placenta (I think I'd draw the line at that!) It's animal placenta, obv ... you can buy it, dried, from New Zealand. Farmers usually use the placentas as fertiliser. I live in sheep-farming country, but didn't have the nerve to ask around in the Spring!!

Allthingspretty · 27/07/2013 16:02

Estee Lauder Invisible fluid foundation-looks natural but looks like I have made an effort amd doeant feel cakey or uncomfortable

Aveda Damage Remedy products- cant rate them enough

perplexedpirate · 27/07/2013 16:12

As many have said, coconut oil, GHDs, dermaflannel.
But mainly Botox.

TallulahBetty · 27/07/2013 17:37

Avon Glimmersticks eyeliner. It ACTUALLY stays on all day. Better than ones 4 times the price.

AndTwoBits · 27/07/2013 17:37

Can I ask how you apply coconut oil to hair? I have coarse wire wool hair from years of peroxide abuse.

garlicagain · 27/07/2013 18:08

2Bits, whack it on all over, wet or dry, massage scalp, comb through, and leave it on for as long as you can. For quicker results you can put a plastic/foil cap on - the heat from your head helps it soak in - or one of those 'heat caps' made for the purpose.

For on-the-fly smoothing and shining, just melt a very little bit in your hands and apply it to the ends and other frizzy bits.

I've been bleaching mine every two weeks for the past 8 months (long & messy story) ... I'm able to leave a heavy oil treatment on for several days at a time, after which it's like New Hair for a while. I don't suppose you could do that if you have to go to work, though.

Coconut oil is one of those which are very similar to sebum, like argan oil, but is lighter in texture than argan oil :) Having said that, my hair would probably soak up axle grease, it's that damaged!

AndTwoBits · 27/07/2013 19:31

Garlic you have sold me on the coconut oil! My hair will be in rag order for at least another year whilst the bleach grows out. Will get some tomorrow, can't wait.

cafenoir · 27/07/2013 21:08

Thanks to S&B:
Bravura Dermaflannel
Double Wear Lite foundation
Coconut oil for face, hair, body, teeth

And my own discoveries:
Mane Hair Thickening Spray (a bit messy but a big confidence booster for my thinning crown problem)
Hair wraps (scrunchies made of hair!) to bulk out my generally weedy, pathetic looking hair.

garlicagain · 27/07/2013 21:20

Oh, I quite like the sound of hair scrunchies!

:) 2Bits, you'll smell like a Bounty bar Wink

BestIsWest · 27/07/2013 21:59

Neals Yard Frankincense Nourishing cream - my skin has never been so good.

Vitamin D spray.

Coconut oil.

LeFreakCestChic · 27/07/2013 22:13

Cafe noir, where do you get the hair scrunchies that ding look chavvy?

And what's the best coconut oil to buy?
Ps, what's oil pulling btw?

yerwan · 27/07/2013 22:23

Oil pulling is swishing oil around the mouth to draw out impurities from the body. I've never done it but a colleague swears by it.

FaddyPeony · 27/07/2013 22:30

Yep coconut oil here too, for the OCM. I really can't see myself ever buying another chemically face wash or cleanser ever again. Coconut oil is so cheap and lasts for ages and is very gentle on my (easily aggravated, blemish-prone) skin. Love it. Most nights I don't even bother moisturising afterwards.

My main change your life moment was realising that my skin does NOT need to be treated with harsh stripping products to make it less greasy. I've spent so much money over the years on chemically shite that made it flare up, or bought rich night creams in the hope of staving off wrinkles (in my 20s Hmm). Now I don't buy into any of the marketing crap when it comes to skincare. As simple as possible works for me.

cafenoir · 27/07/2013 23:01

LeFreak I get my scrunchies from a local shop called Hair Plus but you can get them online from Hot Hair. I put my sad locks up into a ponytail, push a fancy chopstick through sideways, bung the scrunchy through one end of the stick, push my own pony through the hole of the scrunchy and the put the other side of the scrunch through the other side of the stick (does that even make any sense?!)

It just looks as if I've got a much fuller/thicker pony tail going on and I like it better than clip in ponytails which often look very unreal.

I get my coconut oil from the cooking oils section of waitrose. I think Tesco have it too but amazingly it was a bit cheaper in Waitrose. It's organic and says virgin on it so it MUST be good! :)

My teeth are definitely whiter since I've done the oil pulling. And my breath less vile in the mornings. Not sure it does anything for the rest of the body. Certainly don't feel any different/better.

Ruprekt · 27/07/2013 23:13

Marking my place

mercury7 · 28/07/2013 01:07

I just googled and oil pulling seems worth a try..but I read you should do it for 20 minutes Shock ?

garlicagain · 28/07/2013 01:38

Yeah, that put me right off. I don't even know how you can keep a glob of - presumably dirty, if it works - oil in your mouth that long without swallowing.
