I bet this is a Mission Impossible

What I want are maternity trousers that aren't under-the-bump, that aren't fake hipsters with a great swathe of jersey fabric over the bump, and that are made of cotton. And in a size 20 minimum. What I want are over-the-bump cotton trousers with either internal expanders (like in the Gap toddler trousers) or stretchy panels on the hips.

Any hope?

I used to have a pair that Aloha sent to me, and then I in turn sent them onto another Mumsnetter - they were black, over the bump with stretchy panels and very smart and comfy. I wonder where they are now?

I had some of these from Formes - expensive but wore them all the time. That was 6 years ago though.

There's a brand called Noppies, not sure where you are but they are sold in various maternity shops. Bella Mama in Dublin. They are a bit pricey but they expand and expand. Very comfy, easily washed, barely need ironing and I loved mine.

M&S have some 100% cotton cargo trousers - sorry, my machine is refusing to load the M&S site properly so can't do a link. Actually will try \link{http://www.marksandspencer.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=9297&Product_Id=2026772\here} - can't see the sizes on my machine either, but M&S normally OK.

I had some of these from Hennes last time I was pregnant. Very cheap. I don't know if they still do them.

Some from \link{http://www.tchibo.co.uk/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/uk/-/GBP/TdUkDisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=M3067\Tchibo} (not sure about the colour, and are 97% cotton, 3% elastane though).

Have you tried Ebay?
If all the current maternity trousers in the shops are hipsters etc you might be better looking for some on ebay as you'll find styles from previous years

PrettyCandles · 09/06/2006 14:22

I saw the Tchibo ones the other day, got very excited (sad, sad), but they barely reached round me. Size X-Y sizing never seems to fit if I am the Y size.

M&S looks promising - now I just have to find a branch with maternity section.

Ebay is a very good idea - thanks.
