CLARKS apparently don't make boys sandals below a G fitting

What the ACTUAL FUCK.

They charge a fortune for their shoes, and the only redeeming feature is that if you have very wide or very narrow feet, you can still get shoes to fit.

Except ds2, who has E Width feet, has available to him ...... On pair of school schoes, which he already fucking owns.

So, CLARKS shoes, what is the point? Exactly how are you a better choice than Asda?

I was in Clarks last month to get first shoes for DS3. They only had "shoes", such as they would wear in Summer etc. Absolutely nothing for warm weather for boys.
They had lots of choice in sandals/light shoes for girls at that stage.
I have just let him go barefoot, as it is so warm, and am going to boutique for kids shoes at the end if the summer.

Why do they think young/small boys want to wear heavy shoes?!

woopsidaisy · 25/07/2013 13:24

Sorry, that should be "as they would wear in Winter"...

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 25/07/2013 13:25

They don't do narrow girls sandals (or winter boots) either. Not enough demand, apparently. And my two DDs can't wear Asda sandals - they're like boats on them and their feet come out. We've found Startrite better for narrow feet, maybe boys will be the same?

FromageFrog · 25/07/2013 13:28

Can't you get a pair of doodles?

FromageFrog · 25/07/2013 13:31

Sorry, just seen he is at school so probably doesn't want doodles!

colditz · 25/07/2013 13:39

Doodles only available in f and g.

They don't make them above a G either. DS is an H fitting. I got him some G width sandals in Clarks as the fitter assured me that they would fit as they are adjustable....which made me wonder why the bother with width fittings then?!

flakjacket · 25/07/2013 13:44

Crocs or flipflops is the only answer we have found. DS (6) wears crocs all summer, DD (10) wears crocs or flipflops. DD (12) wears flipflops or little black plimsoll things from the factory shop (because they come up narrow) and moans a lot that she can't find trendy footwear to fit.

I blame myself. I'm a AA fitting and they're all E's. I have blighted their lives...

YoniMontana · 25/07/2013 13:50

My two wear crocs as well. I think they are comfier for summer than open sandals.

stringbean · 25/07/2013 17:47

I've always loathed Clarks for this reason. Both my dcs have narrow feet - dd has a D width fitting - and Clarks just don't make shoes to fit them. I went there when dd was small and was sold a pair of E width shoes which they insisted fitted her (they didn't). If I can get a particular style of trainer in an E fitting, they're just about ok on her, but the school shoes and sandals never fit.

Passthecake30 · 25/07/2013 17:48

My 5yr old is a e fitting and has a pair of sandals from matalan. The straps look very long. ..but they can go tight enough at least

Tigresswoods · 25/07/2013 17:49

Woopsidaisy: get some crocs. Fabulous in the summer. We get 2nd hand proper crocs off of eBay.

SleepyFish · 25/07/2013 18:06

I am seriously disappointed with Clarks at the moment. I have just returned a third pair of trainers in 3 months. The stitching came undone on the first pair after 2 weeks. Replaced with same style, stitching came undone after 3 days. Replaced with different style, stitching has come undone after 3 weeks wear.
He's been wearing other footwear alongside so not being worn every day. Took them back today and got yet another style so we'll see how long these last. I'll not be buying from them again.
Best type of sandals are the ones with Velcro at back and over front so they can be adjusted to fit.

I don't get crocs. They seem fatal to me and you have to sort of grip with toes like flipflops. But ds is very clumsy and I know he'd trip in them.

ihearttc · 25/07/2013 19:03

I got some boys Clarks Sandals in an F fitting but they don't have them any longer as they went into the sale...really helpful in the middle of a heatwave! They were called Miztec Sun and they were literally the only closed toe sandals I could find...DS2 is 2.5 but runs (and trips over!) everywhere so wanted something to protect his toes.

I also got some closed toe doodles (the t-bar style ones) for him in an E fitting because the F was massive. They were off the website though as every store I went into told me they didn't do them...might be worth checking if you haven't already.

plentyofsoap · 25/07/2013 20:58

My ds has long skinny feet and Next crocs fit well.

Sneepy · 25/07/2013 22:39

I've given up and just go to an independent store and pay a fortune. Luckily my DDs' feet don't grow too fast so they get one pair each per season. DD1 has a great pair of sandals that are actually comfortable and leave no marks anywhere on her feet! I find crocs give blisters if they rub anywhere, which they will do on narrow feet.

ZolaBuddleia · 25/07/2013 23:01

Have a look here, you didn't give your DS's size but they have boys sandals in E fitting.
