Babyliss Big Hair - Worth it?

Hi, I have very fine (limp) hair to shoulder length.
I am really keen to get a Babyliss. Will it have more of an effect than using a large brush/dryer?

Also what products do you use with it? My hair tends to flop very quickly - even salon dried.

I love mine. I use it with Nicky Clarke volume root spray (use sparingly on roots), GHD heat protecting spray, kerastase oil as a serum and a light hairspray.

This is one of the best youtube videos I've seen on it as it is the quickest way to look groomed using it. link there are other videos with more intricate instructions which give different results but for me this one was the best starting point.

Absolutely - I have now all but ditched my hair dryer and use this instead! Has made a massive difference to my hair. I don't use any products on it and it still looks good, even though it is very fine and uncooperative.

Yes, I love mine too.

DH had remembered me mentioning it once, and bought it for me for Christmas. At first I was a bit Hmm as to why he had bought it (didn't remember mentioning it), but as soon as I used it, I became a convert.

I would agree that my hair is greasier for using it, and I have to wash it more often or use dry shampoo when I'm feeling really lazy, but as I have frizzy hair, it has meant that I have been able to ditch the straighteners (I now just use them on the top to finish off my hair) and so my hair is a lot healthier as a result.

The other downside is that it stays less styled than using straighteners, so again needs styling more frequently, but as it is less of a pita when I do do it, I don't really mind.

i love mine. it makes my hair look salon dried. i have fine boob length hair - its highlighted which gives it a bit of oomph anyway but i use a body boosting spray and then this - i find it easy to dry in sections (start at the nape of your neck for one section. then let a bit down and do the sides and rest of back, then the top - i wouldnt be without mine and when i dies i will get another! mine is a good 3 years old now - still going strong

Wonder product. Transformed my ability to get reasonable results with my shoulder length fine hair. Doesn't seem to matter what products I use - still miles better than before. (Starting from low base though as hopeless at blow drying).

This is the only way I can 'blow dry' my hair to make it look sleek and naice!

I have thick, heavy, frizzy below shoulder bob. I look like Crystal Tips if I use a normal dryer. The Babyliss gives me oomph at the roots (the weight of my hair makes the root section go so flat it's like I've got a comb over!) and this gadget will turn even the most cack handed into a blow pro ;-)

I find it good for getting volume but have stopped using mine so often as it was frying my ends (same as all heat tools I guess). I find a hairdryer and a GHD ceramic brush gets much sleeker, smoother results. But less volume.

I love mine.
I have a straight, lank chin length bob.
To get extra boost in the roots I use the Babyliss then with it still in I blast the roots with my normal dryer.
A warning though, when you 1st use it do section off your hair otherwise it's easy to get very tangled up.

I'm toying with getting one. My once thick hair is getting thinner and breaking more as I get older Sad. I've stopped using my (fab) Parlux hairdryer and have found using a less powerful/cooler hairdryer has helped stop my hair breaking as much. Also, I let it dry naturally if I can but it looks awful - flat as a pancake! But it does seem to be helping it thicken a teeny bit. Has anyone noticed if their hair has become more prone to breaking when they use their BBH?

But why is there a regular question on Babyliss every few weeks on MN - far more so than any other product. I reckon their Marketing people are mnetters!

Well if their marketing people are on here, I would like them to know how completely rubbish I have found their customer services department when my BBH stopped spinning (disgruntled face).

jamster yes my hair is fine and dry-ish and I had a lot more split ends and broken hairs when I was using the BBH regularly. I expect a Parlux or other decent hairdryer is much gentler - with the BBH the heat is blasting right against the hair shaft, in addition to rubbing it with the spinning barrel, whereas you can hold a hair dryer away from the hair.

Mine has totally changed my life and my hair - I'm completely serious. I've got thin, fine, frizzy hair in a jaw length bob. The front is prone to kinks. My hair has never looked so smooth and neat and it takes literally 5 minutes to do in the morning.

I wait until it is basically completely dry, then I use frizz ease thermal serum (orange pump) and a sometimes a volume boosting blow dry spray - currently the VO5 one.

I've always had to wash and do my hair every day because its so fine as loses its style, but its so quick that its not an issue. I have noticed a few split ends, but I minimise the damage by only using it when my hair's basically dry anyway, anti-heat hair products and a cut every 6 weeks.

I couldn't take it with me when I went to the States (different voltage) and I was so upset - I had rubbish hair for two weeks and my wrists got so tired using a brush again!!

OP there are some MNers here who don't want their BBH. Why don't you offer to buy one of them and get a bargain an they've made a few quid out of something they're not using?

Yes - it's the only thing that works for my thick, coarse, wavy hair and gives me swishy, shiny hair - and much easier to use than a ceramic brush and a hairdryer. I'm onto my second brush, it's the one thing I can't live without (well, obv I could, I just prefer not to!). You have to blast your hair with the dryer first until it's about 80-90% dry and then go through your hair with it section by section.

I hate mine. Got it after reading all the rave reviews on here. I kept trying for ages and still go back to it hopefully every so often but all it has ever done for me is give me hair that makes me look like a middle aged news reader Confused
