Finally plucked up the courage to wear a skirt

I don't mind skirts in the winter with tights and boots but HATE baring my legs in the summer. I've been religiously moisturising them, very carefully applied self tan with mitt so no streaks and plucked up the courage to leave the house in a skirt today

All went well until I reached a very busy crossroad. Sudden gust of wind and i did a full on Marilyn Monroe impression Blush Shock Blush

Oh dear lol. I compromised this year and bought some city short things which are wide legged so sort of look like a skirt.

Lact8 · 08/06/2006 22:16

Envy at your city shorts. I'm waiting for the weekend to go toddler free shopping to look for some. What footwear do you wear with yours?

I just wear flat pups or wedge sandals they're not the city shorts that turn up iyswim , they're from dorothy perkins hang on i'll see if I can find them online. Actually they're called culottes LOL they're here \link{http://www.dorothyperkins.co.uk/promostores/dp/2006/\fourth ones along in smart crops section Mine are black}

Ledodgyherring · 08/06/2006 22:20

*pumps

Lact8 · 08/06/2006 22:31

Cheers for the link, got a bit distracted on there though

I like yours, they don't look like too much leg showing

Shock at the daisy duke ones on there though, made me feel very old {smile]

I was thinking of pumps too, had some last year and thought they wouldn't still be fashionable so did the decorating in them, doh!

oh and pmsl at pups

I really need to get some Birkenstocks I had some last year but used them at the maternity ward having ds and they got covered in all sorts so i chucked them.

Lact8 · 08/06/2006 22:38

Ive been wearing leather slip on things, look like slippers and verging on chavvy but v comfy though I've ended up with lovely tanned feet and milk bottle white toes. Need to go shopping for city shorts and new shoes now!

Ledodgyherring · 08/06/2006 22:40

LOl at white toes i'm white as a sheet everywhere atm we've all been stuck in with tummy bugs so annoying that weather is so nice! Will have to apply my fake bake tommorrow so am tanned for the weekend. Good Luck with the shopping.

Lact8 · 08/06/2006 22:44

Racking my brains here...

Are you the MNer who swears by fake bake

And also turning 30 soon?

Ledodgyherring · 08/06/2006 22:48

Yes thats me! God your memory is good.

Lact8 · 08/06/2006 22:51

Can remember stuff like that but not useful things like where my keys are and what day PE is on!

OP posts:
Ledodgyherring · 08/06/2006 22:53

Haha, omg my next door neighbour is hoovering!

Lact8 · 08/06/2006 23:01

sorry bout the time lapse then, I think DP trying to tell me something and turned off my wireless connection

Hoovering at this time of night???

OP posts:
Ledodgyherring · 08/06/2006 23:05

I know it's very weird last time she did this she was nesting, maybe she's forgot to tell me something lol.

Lact8 · 08/06/2006 23:08

My neighbours the other way around. Hoovers religiously at 8 am every day! Shock I'm chuffed if I'm dressed by then let alone doing housework

You over your stomach bug now? Has the whole family been affected?

OP posts:
Ledodgyherring · 08/06/2006 23:10

Yeah am feeling better tonight thanks my dd got it yesterday i'm just hoping ds avoids it, he's only 6 1/2 months.

Lact8 · 08/06/2006 23:16

My dd 5.5 months, she's managed to avoid the gerns the rest of us have had, I think their immunes systems are pretty strong so fingers crossed for you ds.

Do you work? Gone back after mat leave yet?

OP posts:
Ledodgyherring · 08/06/2006 23:17

Nope i'm a sahm at the moment.

Lact8 · 08/06/2006 23:28

I'm about to become one too [scared emoticon]
I'm excited about it in terms of having the chance to be a full time mum but it does scare me thinking of being here day in day out

OP posts:
Ledodgyherring · 08/06/2006 23:30

It can be isolating, Mn helps alot but it's nice as well.

Lact8 · 08/06/2006 23:36

I already feel like my world has shrunk so much over the past 6 months mat leave, everything seems to focus around the house now.

But with both ds's I was never in a financial position to not return to work so I know i'm lucky I've got the option now too

Mn a blessing and a curse IMO

Great to escape from RL for a while and good advise on here BUT so addictive Smile

OP posts:
Ledodgyherring · 08/06/2006 23:39

Yes it is very addictive lol. You'll be fine but try to go out with friends or partner/dh a couple of times a month of a night as well otherwise you will get cabin fever.

Lact8 · 08/06/2006 23:45

That describes me a fortnight ago when it didn't stop raining for a week, I was climbing the walls.

With the sunshine we've been breakfast in the garden everyday and picnics down the park. This week I've been thinking I've made the right decision, getting a tan so much more fun than work!

PMSL at the concept of night out!! DD either settles for the night, feed at 5 am and thats it OR feeds every couple of hours. There's no pattern to it and I know she'd pick the one night we we're going out to have a feeding frenzy

Your ds obviously better behaved than my dd Smile

OP posts:
Ledodgyherring · 08/06/2006 23:50

Aww i am lucky with my ds he's a big boy who slept through from 8 weeks (although he did have t have craneal osteopathy). I'm also bottlefeeding unfortunately couldn't handle the bf this time due to depression etc but we're all happy now and thats what counts. Give it a few months and you'll get your night out in the meantime make sure you have time out for yourself as well even if it's just a bath and a book it makes a difference. At least you've become a sahm in the summer so plenty of walks to keep you sane, the winter is harder but still do-able it will take adjustment but is truly worth it. Anyway it's been lovely taking to you tonight but my bed is calling. If you msn feel free to add me my address is [email protected].
Tc x.

Lact8 · 08/06/2006 23:56

And you LDH Smile

Still feel a bit wobbly when I think about it longterm so it's been good to talk, thanks

I've got msn on here, i'll figure out how to use it

Night night x
