Genie Bra

Hi all,

I saw an infomercial yesterday for the genie bra.

Yes it looks like shit and will double as a contraceptive (no one will want to come near me) but are they as comfy as they say they are. Has anyone tried one?

Thank you x

Yes! Comfy like a vest, sure, but no real support, seemed to drag the girls even more south than they were already heading. I was a 34H at the time though, maybe they're better for smaller sizes?

I love my Genie bras. So comfortable and supportive enough for my 32DD's, although I would not like to go jogging in them. My DH really doesn't seem to mind them either, probably because I feel slimmer and more confident in them. IME they wear a lot better than the cheaper ones in the shops. I even have the Milania ones with the lace panel at the front.

I am a 30FF and have the JML version...very comfy but absolutely no support at all. Nice for wearing about the house, but a well fitting underwired bra is just as comfy (promise!) and gives a much better shape.

CecyHall · 23/07/2013 11:52

I wear mine at night as I hate having no support at night but wouldn't wear in the day as I end up with shelf boob syndrome in it.

Yonihadtoask · 23/07/2013 12:03

I have one - the Ideal World shopping channel one. ( a pair actually)

Very comfy. Great for just hanging around at home - and I do go out locally in it - if not wearing a super tight tshirt over the top.

I don't have massive booblies, but they aren't very self supporting anymore.

oh i LOVE them, saw them on an infomercial when in america a couple of years ago, so instantly went and bought some

i wore them to death but in the end had to throw them out as they had just been worn and washed so many times

but have found them IMPOSSIBLE to find in a size 8 since then :(

Yonihadtoask · 23/07/2013 18:39

The removable pads do make a difference.

It all looks a bit more supported with the pads in.

KosherBacon · 23/07/2013 18:48

Aren't they just a crop top with jazzed up marketing?

gaggiagirl · 23/07/2013 18:54

I lived in mine during late pregnancy and breastfeeding I had 4 a beige one for sleeping in and the jazzy colours for day wear very comfy but I wouldn't wear one out and about now.

dirtyface · 23/07/2013 20:07

no i found them really supportive

and i am a 32dd

Jabberwox · 06/09/2013 01:24

The support is iffy at best if you're anything over a D cup. I found when I got mine, they worked splendidly at first, but since I've washed them, they stretch and go out of shape. And yup, I hand washed them and everything.

They're one of those bras where you begin the day looking moderately lifted and supported - and by the end of the day your boobs are practically hanging out the bottom of the bra.

They also make you sweat like crazy underneath your boobs, especially in the hot weather Blush

They ARE comfortable, but the shoulder pain which comes from the lack of support certainly isn't! And the straps can dig in, depending on how big your boobs are.

I imagine that they must've tested these bras on models with silicon implants or smaller chested women.

So bottom line is: they're fine for comfort round the house and casual days out, but apart from that they don't offer much support at all.

I have two genie bra's, another one by another make and similar price then I went into Poundworld and bought one for, yes you've guessed it, £1

poundworld.net/comfort-bra/

I now have bought a lot, for my daughter and myself as they are just as good as the genie bra. They don't come with inserts but they look the same, have the same support, wash perfectly and only cost £1!

SundaySimmons · 06/09/2013 08:10

I forgot to add that I am a 34c and my daughter is a 34b so neither of us need a great deal of support so I can't voucher for those with bigger cup sizes, but I can confirm that it is practically identical to the genie bra.

nocarsgo · 06/09/2013 08:38

They're for grannies who are past caring about bust support, right? Don't be deceived by the younger women modelling them Grin

SundaySimmons · 06/09/2013 08:46

Nocarsgo, I wear mine at night to stop decolette/cleavage wrinkles. I hate wearing a bra and these provide modesty for me under clothes. Great for exercise as you don't get sweaty in them.

They are perfect for small busts, I can't speak for larger busts!
