I didn't have any problems when growing up with my skin, but started noticing after I had my second child, and know I actually think I may be dealing with acne oily skin. I get constant blackheads as my pores are constantly open due to my oiliness and I also get water filled spots that feel sore to touch and other spots if I use moisturiser? It's like the moisturiser gets trapped and becomes a spot?
I shower twice a day and tone my skin after bathing with which hazel know and I don't moisturise as much, I use simple wash and moisturiser which is the best around just know but I feel it's hardly doing anything for my skin?
Maybe it's not strong enough?
I know have some scaring on the sides of my cheeks and it has just dawned on me wether or not I may be dealing with acne?
is there a brand for this problem I can use?

I really need help my skin looks awful and is really crashing my confidence as I am wearing more make up to cover up and I can't wear it as the oiliness makes it look horrendous!

Could anyone recommend a wash toner and moisturiser for my problem,

Thanks for reading.....Sad

It does sound like the products you are using are not right for your skin type. Sometimes using the wrong products are just as damaging as doing nothing.

It might just be a case of finding something that works for you at this moment in time.

I would head towards the beauty department in your local store and get a free consultation from a skin care brand such as Clinique or Estée Lauder. Please don't feel under any obligation to buy from them however pushy they are. (I'm a former Estée Lauder counter person thankfully not on orange one Wink so I know how intimated they can make you feel)

Once armed with the information of your skin type take a look around. I'm a fan of the bioderma range which isn't expensive. If you have more of a budget head for dermalogica which is a fabulous brand.

Your skin might get worse before it gets better and be prepared for a little trial and error.

Good luck

I am 45 and still battling acne. You need to use high-quality products (glycolic based are excellent for acne) that are made to deal with skin conditions without stripping your skin of natural oils.

After much trial and error I use a combination of Dermalogica, MD Formulations, Murad and LaRoche-Posay. Some of these are pricy but they last for ages (and I always think of it in terms of a product costing less than an item of clothing, lasting for months and making my skin, which is on display all the time, look and feel much better, so a worthy investment).

You could also try the doctors.

BeginnerSAHM · 19/07/2013 11:22

Definitely go to the doctor. It sounds like adult acne and needs proper treatment. I had it, briefly, after DC2, having never had bad spots as a teenager and slightly dry skin. It cleared up very quickly with topical creams. I saw an immediate improvement in a few days and it totally went in a couple of months. And I didn't need to keep using them! I wish I'd gone to the GP earlier....

I had acne after coming off the pill at 30.... I suffered for about 6 months, then went docs and got prescribed a roll on antibiotic and I was cured within weeks.
I also have v sensitive skin and stick to Clinique. All other lotions and potions gave me blotches or spots

QuinnFabray · 19/07/2013 13:08

La Roche Posay is really good for your skin type. The Effaclar range. I'm 38 with crappy oily, acne prone skin, and this, particularly the Effaclar Duo and Effaclar K treatment creams, have really helped my skin.

I also have acne after coming off the pill, I'm 28. It went away abit during my pregnancy but now I've had my DS it has come back full on. My doctor has prescribed me an antibiotic roll on which is working wonders so def think it would be worth going to see your GP.

Hi thanks for all your replys,,,
Was away on Hols!

I'm going to make an appointment to see the gp, weirdly it has cleared up lots since started using a toner of full which hazel,,?
Still feel my skin needs constant clean ups throughout the day tho so when it's needed it ive just used the which hazel on a clean cotton pad and Ivd stopped putting any make up on my skin too, but its been so nice that with a little sun tan on my face I've not needed make up which is great!
Has anyone tried or heard of skin find? I had a mini facial to try the product out and it felt amazing on my skin with not irritations whatsoever!

I developed acne in my third pregnancy. Spent 4 years moaning about my skin and eventually asked the gp for advice. She took one look and put me on tetralysal for 3 months. I'm a month in and the difference already is incredible.

I wish I'd gone to the doctor about it sooner as I put up with it for so long and it was such a simple fix in the end.

I'm 29 and also had perfect skin as a teen.
