Can anyone recommend a camouflage makeup for legs that doesn't just look like fake tan?!

I have a lot of scarring on my legs, brown spots and some pitting. I suffer from dermotillomania and over the last few years have made them look pretty rubbish. I have been wearing shorts etc over the last couple of weeks as its just so bloody hot, but they make me feel really uncomfortable.

I have tried stuff before, I think it was Sally Hansen, but that just made me feel like I was wearing fake tan, which is really not my style.

Any advice much appreciated Smile

I have a veiny bit and this is what I do. Use Rimmel hide the blemish stick on the bit to be covered, then dab on some bronzer with a brush on top to dry it. Blend it in lightly with fingers.

Dermablend. I got it on prescription, but you can buy it online. You'll need a tester palette to work out the best colour for you.

On Gok's show the other night they recommended mixing BB cream, moisturiser and wash off fake tan and applying with a mitt. Sounds interesting but I haven't tried it myself yet.

Doesn't MAC do a face and body makeup?

belledejour · 21/07/2013 23:45

Mac does make a very good face and body foundation but it's expensive - about £25. I have problems with exposing my legs too - the shape is fine but I am very pale with terrible thread veins, scars, ingrowing hairs etc. I slap on BB cream and it is pretty good. Even wore it to the beach last year. Not sure about mixing it with moisturizer, as advised by Gok, as I would be worried about it rubbing off on furniture, car seats etc but when I apply it on its own it dries quite swiftly. I tend to buy whatever's on offer in Boots - last year had Garnier, which was good but I felt even the medium was very dark so approach with care!

I mix Aveeno moisturising lotion with Sally Hansen airbrush legs (the cream, not the spray). Hides a multitude of sins.

I still find Sally Hansen airbrush legs light by far the best and most natural, although it felt to me they they made the 'light' a bit darker when they introduced the waterproof version and I actually like the classic one more, but it seems to be discontinued. Still a great product, also for décolletage :)

The best best combo IMO is Estée Lauder maximum coverage for face and body, followed by Rimmel stay matte powder, dusted on with a big brush. Expensive but the Estée Lauder stuff lasts for ages and is fantastic. But careful with your colour match, it's not a great blender. For any scarring or discolouration, la Roche posay cicaplast is wonderful stuff, as (interestingly) is cheap old sudocrem.
Hope that helps a little.
