DIY laser hair removal - any recommendations?

Have finally decided to deal with my bikini line once and for all and want laser treatment.

Can anyone recommend any good home kits - I'm looking at the
Philips Lumea SC2003 Precision Plus IPL Hair Reduction System from Boots.

Thanks.

Was hoping you might have had some replies as I was thinking along similar lines! Will watch with interest!

Hmmm - I'm having laser treatments on my chin/tache - and I'd be interested to hear anyone who's diy as I don't think I'd cope with the "discomfort" and it would end up staying in its box!

I bought the Boots Soft Skin for hairs on my chin. I'm not terribly impressed by it and ended up saving up my Tesco vouchers to get laser treatment at Sk1n which gives better results.

I bought a Lumea a few months ago. I am quite pale skinned with darkish but not very thick or fast growing body hair. I have used it 5 times since I bought it, the first 2 times were fine but after the 3rd and 4th session my lower legs broke out in a very itchy rash which lasted about a week. For my 5th go I just did part of my lower legs on a lower setting (settings are 1-5) and no rash. My lower legs are almost hairless now but I do still shave every week or so just to get the strays. When my tan is gone in autumn I will start using it again. I find it almost completely painless and have no ingrown hairs. I found waxing and epilating painful and they both resulted in numerous unattractive and itchy ingrown hairs. I will never wax or epilate again!

I have used it on my underarms but not sure I will bother again as I still have to shave almost as much as before. I have also used it on my bikini line, that has worked quite well and I will continue using it there. I haven't used it on my face or anywhere else.

I would certainly recommend it if you can afford it, but be careful if you have sensitive skin like me! Hope that helps Smile

IPL is not the same as laser. I found it pretty weak an it took forever to take effect.

Laser on the other hand is amazing, but sadly I doubt there's a DIY version.
