Chiropody/podiatry

Hello all,

I want to go and see someone to have my feet checked over - I have a lot of hard dry skin which I'd like to get rid of and also I need someone to look at my nails and tell me why some have white patches and what to do about it.

Who do I need to see and what do I ask for? Is there a difference between chiropodists and podiatrists? And will they actually work on the hard skin etc. or do I need a good pedicure for that?

Thank you for you thoughts :)

Podiatrists and chiropodists are one and the same. Podiatry is the uk term, chiropodist is the us term, though they are often used interchangeably. A podiatry appointment will do everything you ask for in your op (remove hard skin, check nail health etc) but don't expect a polish! The pedicures you get in beauty places are purley cosmetic, so although they remove hard skin, it is just for aesthetics.
