Home hair dye

I have been having my hair highlighted for about ten years. Natural colour is a mouse brown but I usually go for a warm blonde and then a very light blonde and may hair is now very blonde. I like it this way. My only issue is the time and organisation it takes to go to a salon - I never make my appointment in good enough time and often don't have 3 hours to sit in a salon so am thinking of going back to home hair dye (did this in my teens) , but am worried about it - will it look naff? Damage my hair? Is there anything that won't be a total block colour that I can use? TIA

haven't used it but last week I was researching home hair colour as couldn't get to salon in time (or afford it this month)!

anyway, I have dark blonde hair and usually get 3 colours/highlights at salon to blend, look natural and cover greys. I chose John Frieda mousse in pearl dark blonde but I knew it would make my blonder hair darker (which I wanted), also more a block of colour.

but... I did consider trying this one L'oreal Preference Wild Ombres which claims to emulate the look I think you are after! good luck.

er..that should say 'haven't used this l'oreal one' but was v.tempted to recreate the different blonde shades rather than go for a block colour!
